And if they do add multiplayer or co-op, they should at least give different class/role to what a player can do. At least 4-6 can be an optional to start a crew. I'm just saying this in a sense to a more team bonding way, but with a twist. With each have their own role like as an engineer, combative master, florist, any important role that goes for survival. But with the said, "twist", each player has a story they had to go through, even if it means betrayal in some way. Like how it is in Below Zero, it could be at least interesting how it plays out on their own.

Same for me. I absolutely love below zero. I understand some people don't like Robin her voice but you can mute it and understand all as long as you have subtitles on. For when I hadn't played the 1st game in a while and went back to it after I had played below zero for some time. I actually preferred the dense biomes and filled up world. The 1st game gave me a more horror feeling which I know most fans love but Tbh I prefer it more casual and a bit more lively and thats what below zero made me feel. With obv robin talking and also the amount of creatures that spawn.

Subnautica is a game I still play through about once every 18 months. Subnautica 2 I have only played once. For me, 2 failed in a few ways. While the lifeform design was still as good as the original, the environment was overly complex in a way that was NOT enjoyable, and the narrative was very sloppy. I literally spent the second half of this game constantly looking up playthrough clips because there weren't even subtle hints as to where to go & what to do next! You had to stumble accidentally over what to do. Whereas with 1, you were pushed along so subtly & organically you barely noticed that you were being nudged in a certain direction at all. On land/ice, it was ridiculously easy to get turned around and lost. And you could not stop and get your bearings because that effing ice worm would turn up. Or the bear/lion thingies. I can easily believe that 2 was a DLC that was expanded and rushed out. It shows. I love the original Subnautica. I genuinely hope the developers learn from the mistakes made with the second game. Take your time. Please! As to adding multiplayer? If there is a solo playthrough, with the option to add friends later, sure! (Take a page out of NMS, for example.) If they try to shove multiplayer down our throats, making the game unplayable solo, well... That will kill this game faster than adding microtransactions. Thanks for the informative clip. Kudos!

The one thing I don’t like about Subnautica was them flattening out the world edge and removing a bottom to the Void, a physical barrier to the edge of the map is more subversive. it made it not feel like we were sitting on the crater of a mountain. They could have procedurally generated this Void biome rather than scraping it. They had a natural bottom at one point at least in parts.

So for those wondering. Subnautica 3 is technically single player with a co-op option. A different youtuber got an interview with someone on the team and that was one of the questions asked. It is meant to be single player but has a co-op option so you can explore with a small group of friends if you desire. They based the game and went with single player in mind, but because so many fans wanted a co op with the first one, they did add it to the third one.

I think multiplayer can be introduced as non-story mode. It can be done by locking any story progress (and mb adding more enemies) or by unlocking multiplayer later in solo mode (after you both complete most of the story). Or you can have "coop mode" you can play solo or with one friend balanced for two players

Subnautica 3 HAS to be designed as a single player game. That is what made the original so amazing. That level of isolation and fear of the unknown. People don't seem to understand how different the game would need to be to truly satisfy a multiplayer experience. It would be extremely difficult to balance the game between a single player and multiplayer game. Not to mention the amount of dev work added for including multiplayer, thus potentially delaying the development further. Once the gameplay, story, and flow of the game are created as a fully fleshed out single player game, that is when I think multiplayer COULD be a nice addition. But like I mentioned, that takes dev time and I personally think modders are capable of doing this like they did for the other games so that the original devs can focus on giving us the best game they can. But that is just my realistic opinion. Of course it would be nice to have multiplayer built in, especially since that seems to be the number one request from fans. But I just want another game like the original where it goes back to that true isolation and horror factor. Super nice video though! Super excited for more news in the future! I feel like people have some weird expectations of this new game. Listen, just because its "the next game in the same universe" it does not mean that its going to be similar to the other games, you do realize that natural selection 2 is tecnically in the same universe, and that game is very different to the subnautica games. We dont really even know if this new game is going to have WATER in it, so dont expect anything only based on the fact that its gonna be in the same universe as subnautica

i'd say 2 player would be good anymore would be too easy in gathering resources and strain in energy and i do think the way we should be able to talk to eachother under water is via radio with the help of our machines like as i travel with the prawn suit my friend would be sailing nearby with a vehicle which can sail like the sea moth and sea truck and of course there should be a limit with how far we can chat so radio beacons should be a thing to extend the range

If the map is 5x bigger, a 4 player co-op might work The extra space makes it easier to keep out of each other's way and the resource gathering being easier from the extra players just removes the chore of spending a few hours going out and filling the important lockers with titanium, silver, silicone, copper and gold

i feel like if subnautica 3 was multiplayer it wouldn't ruin it or make it any less playable, if anything it would make the game MORE playable. cuz if there IS multiplayer, it would likely be an OPTION, most games have a solo and multiplayer option. if they added multiplayer it would maybe broaden playability because some people prefer to have fun and scary games to play with friends. There should obviously be a solo option for people who like playing by themselves and enjoy the isolation aspect of subnautica. this demand for multiplayer is already showing because theres mods for it and players gotta jump through hoops to do so. why not just have multiplayer an option in the game natively? it wouldnt make subnautica any less amazing. plus it could always make the game more re-playable for some :)

Unknown could easily make it non linear again. Quickly kill off your co-companion right now and you are a human in an alien alternate realm (universe?) alone cut off from literally EVERYTHING... unless susan still works (your wristband voice thing). I don't want multiplayer. I think it's a slippery slope. IF there is some form of multiplayer, it should be co-op based, and in a separate mode from the main story. I want the MAIN GAME to still be a whole hearted single player experience with the loneliness feeling like the first one, fully tailored to single player mode. There can exist a separate mode for co-op, but I don't want to sacrifice an immersive, incredible, story-rich and lore-rich single player adventure experience at the cost of the devs having to also tailor the game for a multiplayer purpose. Co-op mode is fine, just make it a single player game at its core with a side option for co-op. (edit bc typos)

below zero is unity engine and so is the first one - yes unity has made some crappy reforms which may lead to switch but its harder and the company behind sn still has enough drag to force unity into more favourable terms.

They need to make multiplayer in. See it this way. You and some friends want to play subnautica well to bad you most play by yourself 🤷‍♂️. Me and my friends love survival games special subnautica but it will be so much better if people could play together 🤷‍♂️ besides they will get more people to play the game too 🤷‍♂️ a crew some love survival games don’t wanna play solo sorry to say 🤷‍♂️

theu should release it BEFORE GT6 came out or 4-5 month before it came out or the game will receive very low player bases as the GTA6 came out
