Well you can always grow them, they're pretty easily duplicated forever, hit one twice, grab it and drop it, then hit twice again and you get infinite seeds.

Hey Insym, I know what happened with the scanner room: Think of a hallway piece as taking up a 1x1 space and the multipurpose room as a 3x3. The scanner room is also a 3x3 and even though they don't technically touch, their areas overlap, so you need that extra hallway to space it out. Vertical bases tend to be better for that reason.

Added note: The Moonpool is like a 3x4 and the large room is like a 3x6 I think. You can always pop into a creative world and just quickly test out some base placing stuff. You won't get spoiled by anything unless you start running out into the rest of the world.

A bit late, but for everyone else, you CAN use the carry on bags as a shulker box. You have to grab it with the propulsion cannon and then press the “put in inventory” button (I think it’s F? It says above your hot bar.) just a handy tip!

Weirdass game mechanic, you basically waste the inventory with the propulsion cannon that you'd gain from getting the bag, so it's basically useless.

It's a good tip, was that always the case or something they added with the more recent updates like making the floatation device useful (Faster and/or Air pocket).? Though I think it is still too fiddly for me. It would drive me batty having to keep swapping and key pressing to just get one or two more slots vs a quick trip to seamoth/prawn to deposit.

I used to use a mod that allowed you to carry without the extra steps, but it didn't update for the current version. It was funny because I could put bags inside of bags giving me infinite space. I think that's why you're not given the option in vanilla.

Just a reminder for everyone, the proper way to use a fire extinguisher in real life is to aim at the base of the fire and activate the extinguisher in short bursts. Watching people use extinguishers in Subnautica always makes me wonder how many people have been taught how to use an extinguisher in real life situations.

I don't have too big of a problem with watching long videos it's just that i feel like i sometimes get something a bit better to watch from channels I follow more actively, unedited stream content isn't as great as like participating in the stream for example.

I started playing Subnautica for the first time a few days before you posted the first part. It's interesting seeing how we went on completely different paths. Non-Spoiler Mechanic Tip: The propulsion cannon, you can just drop stuff you pick up with 'F' instead of launching it. Launching it uses energy and you burn through your batteries way faster that way. Edit: Until you said it out loud, I always read it as Sea TRADER instead of Sea Streader. I was always like, 'wut?'.

Sequels running on the original game's engine allowing retroactive upgrades. Super dope. Edit: Looks like the update for this dropped Dec 2022. Amazing, this game actually came out in 2014 originally!

Among all of the games I've played, Subnautica is an experience that has a deserved place in my heart. It's a game that you can play at your own pace, you can stay in the safe shallows and create your base or go into the deeps to unveal the mysteries of this strange planet and the previous expedition. It's a game that plays with your own fears, many times I had to gather my courage to explore a cave or a new area and the atmosphere is one of the best I've seen . I'm glad you enjoyed it!

this game is highly addictive. an experience everyone should have. like anyone else i would love to get the first experience again. amazed and spooked. you can always do the no sub challenge after this run. no seamoth or prawn suit. cyclops can only be used as surface vessel . thats where you get the full experience and get to learn how to use the flora to your advantage.

I am really loving your genuine enthusiasm about all there is to explore in this game! I'm really sorry so many people out there seem to really want to backseat and spoil it for people playing it their first time. It's such a shame. The Reefbacks were one of my favorites as well! The sound they made was ominous at first, but I quickly grew to take comfort in it, because when I heard it, I knew they were nearby. I don't know if they actually made me any safer, but I liked to think they did.

Also you can listen to PDAs that are voiced without having to stand still, so you can just click play and then close the pda :)

I am so happy you are playing Subnautica, it is among my favourite games of all time. You should play the next one after! Also, a little tip is if you need to make something with a battery like a scanner, use a battery with the least charge. It will replenish it to 100% when you craft with it.

I know this video is old, but man, I've got to say it, your gamesense is actually godlike. You can actually read and deduce stuff from clues and stuff, meanwhile others (myself included) are mumbling around for ages to accidentally find what's next to continue

Handy tip with hatches/corridors - they can be placed in the floor and walls of the straight parts of corridors (though only floor of glass ones) and are flush. 4 way intersections can also have them in floor and roof. And of course you can put in glass windows to make a smaller skylight or window to get some sun if you don't want the full glass treatment.

Something I just noticed for the first time; the writer of that PDA about buying and selling love like a commodity wasn't the person who wanted to lower the contact hours, it was actually the one who was upset about being 'dumped'. I think that's why the last line from the one doing the dumping was said in such a smarmy tone; it was almost a direct quote from something written by the person being dumped. The line about looking at your business model, written by Ekheart but spoken by the other speaker (I've forgotten their name). Which they obviously found ironic, since they advised others to examine their business model but didn't want to do it themselves.

Just googled and did a bit of reading on a scuba site. Insym found it goofy the seamoth would be crushed but he wouldn't as a human. Turns out, humans aren't easily crushed by water. Like, at all. We as humans could swim to the lowest possible point of the ocean on Earth and still not be crushed apparently. It basically comes down to how air compresses vs how solids and liquids get compressed.

Subnautica is one of my favorite games. It's so much fun to explore. And the way they handle the story is refreshing. There's also a creep factor that is a lot of fun. If you're looking for a game that has a similar creep factor I think valley is a good choice. (Not that I spoiled anything but I honestly doubt you'll see this if you're trying to avoid spoilers)

1:05:42 Early Subnautica had a lot of cool features but like you said it was very buggy. You used to be able to terraform the landscape but in order to do so it would make your graphics card hot enough to cook an egg and that's not a metaphor. Back in the day I literally had to put bags of ice on my graphics card when it would start to glitch out and hope it didn't leak water.

Oh there was also a bug where the Reefbacks would sometimes spawn at 10x the normal size and glitch out and just constantly do barrel rolls. The first time I saw one was glitched and I was terrified but they are my favorite.

I love this game to death. I have so much nostalgia from years ago watching KZbinrs playing it, that genuinely, at least once a year, I get a massive nostalgia trip and play through the game again. Subnautica is a standout example of a game to n e v e r s p o i l, as so much of the gameplay rides on the experience. Nonetheless, I now enjoy consuming Subnautica content as I genuinely ALWAYS learn something new, you taught me that the easiest way to deal with explosive fish is to knife them. Regardless, I did want to impart any info I could that prevents some negative and unjustified experiences with the game, but honestly I don't think I can. The game has had most awful bugs removed, but I've heard that sometimes crashes can happen out of the blue, so perhaps just take the time to save regularly, though I doubt you'll have an issue Thanks for reading this rant, KZbin and twitch chat will try to backseat, spoil and give useless tips (god help me) so try to ignore them. Have fun playing the game, my best tip is take your time, there is no rush (what a useless tip 🙄)
