Finally. So much people use Opacity and plug it in the transluance of a Arnold material let say. Forgetting they need the invert value. I also learn something today. Thanks for the video

Great work, could you please make an advanced tutorial on Substance Painter? I’m looking forward to it.

Is it just me or it's not working at all except in that french restaurant scenario? I tried replicating the layers of the glasses (you really just need the translucency for the transparency effect to be visible technically) but nothing changed, and i still see everything opaque. Anybody encountered the same issue? Or found a solution?
@AbeLeal3D Жыл бұрын
You need to go to shader setttigna and enable translucency as well. Just recently discovered that as well. It is close to where you enable displacement

how to export Transparency material to blender?
@Karlitaestrella Жыл бұрын
A question, you can bake the maps for a model in marmosset and then import that maps into substance painter? Thanks a lot 😁
@AbeLeal3D Жыл бұрын
yes of course you can bake your maps in any software and then import them in but is is very important to bake all the necessary maps: Normal World Space Normal Position Thickness Ambient Occluiosn ID You need all the maps to be able to use all the tools within substance. That is why i prefer to do my bakes in susbtance.
@Karlitaestrella Жыл бұрын
@@AbeLeal3D Ohh okey okey! i understand, following that Logic , you can make the normal map for a HighPoly in Zbrush and then import only that map in Substance right? cause substance is going to make the rest of the maps

This is fantastic! Just a question, though: Why is it called translucency in substance if that channel is called transmission in blender? Doesn't blender already have translucency?
@AbeLeal3D9 ай бұрын
naming conventions are sometimes not standar and each software might have slightly different names
@Eradifyerao4 күн бұрын
This is really confusing to me. It seems to me opacity is completely different from transmission. I'm not sure how to distinquish transluncy from these two, but I would like to have a completely opaque surface that can be seen through. Opacity (it seems to me) to actually change the viewed existence of a surface, but translucency keeps the surface viewable in the scene, but allows geometry behind it to be viewed through it...
@Gustmazz4 күн бұрын
@@Eradifyerao It's been a while since I've used substance, but yeah. It really is confusing. Ultimately it might not even matter much if it's opacity, translucency or transmission, if you intend to use the channel as a texture, as it will probably just be a grayscale texture anyway.
