9.15.24 / Video by Usman / BROOKLYN - NYPD Chief Maddrey described a shooting incident at the Sutter Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. Two officers assigned to the 73rd Precinct were patrolling the L line when they observed a fare evader, who refused to stop and threatened to kill them. The officers followed him onto a train, where he resisted arrest, brandished a knife, and was shot by both officers after Tasers proved ineffective. The suspect, along with three others (including one officer), were injured by gunfire. All were hospitalized, with the officer's injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The incident is under investigation by the detective squad and force investigation division.
