No greater feeling after arriving at the drop off getting unloaded then have the stress level drop and the van feels lite as a feather as you drive away .

Liked the video I do basically the same thing you do. I try to get as close in to my drop especially if it is a big city before I take my 2 hr nap. The only way I stop way out is if I just get dog tired before I get there. I like to travel at night if possible less traffic. I just pray the Deer stay on the side of the road and the drunk drivers and texters hold their lanes. I have had to do the hotel stay only once with the load. Ran from Chicago to Laredo and then got hit with a preplan right back to Chicago. Had 4 skids and no room for a bed. Took a 10 hr. Break in the room didn't have a choice. I communicated this to dispatch before I stopped and they understood. Key that I say and you just backed that up Communication Communication, Communication. Great video.

Put me a couple of them Deer whistles on my van. Had a guy tell me make sure they are straight and flat when you put them on or they will not work. I still pray though because God can talk to deer. If a deer has a pack of dogs behind him he is not studying a deer whistle.

As long as you're communicating with dispatch what you're dealing with there is no service failure.

I think its crazy they would expect you to drive 18 hours in a 24 hour period. I know that you are not D.O.T. regulated, but thats not very safe.
@EverythingApax4 жыл бұрын
It's not that they "expect" it from everyone. They understand which drivers can handle what. Also, it's not every day this happens, at least with Barrett it doesn't.
@stevedavenport12024 жыл бұрын
@@EverythingApax I think I could pull an 18 hour day once a month, but 12 hours per day of driving would be my lumit.

Just want to make sure I understand. DOT regulations (fmcsa) mandating 16hr max drive time in any given 24hr period for any person engaged in interstate commerce just doesn't matter in the expiditing industry?? Just trying to get the real facts vs what the govn't says. 1200miles/75mph=16hrs + 8hrs required off duty = 24hrs So expidite companies bid 24hrs for 1200 miles at 50mph??? Numbers don't add up unless you throw out the rule book. Right?? Just trying to be clear. Its the old 'Wink Wink Nod Nod' Since you arn't required to keep logs, how would they ever know. Right??
@EverythingApax5 жыл бұрын
Correct. No logs.
@tonyv34273 жыл бұрын
You must be careful driving 16hrs in any day you definitely don’t want to get into a wreck from being tired behind the wheel. If to many accidents happen the FMCSA will start to take notice and ultimately require logs from all expedite vehicles. Making money is important but doing it safely is more important.
