Diesel heater. Check your intake and exhaust outside with all that snow before trying to start it. Probably iced over. I keep a heat gun in the van and hook up to my generator. Thanks for the videos!

You should do an video of why it is important to have a contractual agreement when running under someone else's authority. Been hearing a lot of war stories about folks getting the shimmy put on them for several thousands of dollars by carriers who ultimately have or end up out of business. Of course we know better but someone new may not understand how easy it is to be a victim of that type of fraud.

Get a generator then get a good electric heater. A generator is invaluable for the road. You can carry a pancake air pump to pump your tires fast. A 2000 watt Honda is portable

What would you do if you show up to the shipper and the load is hazmat paint, 800lbs, and no one told you, and you’d not have bid the load had you known it was hazmat. Would you still force the driver to load or would you tell the broker and refuse the load?

Sorry to share bad news. Except for one load at the beginning of this week, I’ve been dead in the water for almost 3 weeks now. It’s been so bad since January that I’ve taken to Door Dashing while I’m waiting for loads, mostly to earn fuel & food money. The Carrier/Broker/Dispatcher offers “cash advance”, but that’s a rabbit hole that one might never get out of. Door Dash yields separate money, so that I can keep more profit from expedited runs. But, things are that bad that I have to work a “side hustle” to even be able to run a load. Crazy. Seriously considering selling our van: 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500, high roof, extended length, 310,000 miles, very well maintained, new parts included alternator assembly, DEF heater assembly, timing chain assembly, intercooler assembly, cooling fan assembly; fully insulated, Etrack and wood cargo floor, tie down straps galore.

What are your owner operators averaging in this market? I've recently expanded to add on new owner ops but am dealing with the challenges of meeting their demands per mile and making a profit as a carrier. I was planning to propose a fixed average of $.85 a mile. If I can get more, then I'd be more than happy to pass it on to the driver.

@indiothehauler7418 Google "expedite freight carriers." Call them and ask if they're taking on the type of van you plan to buy. Barret Directline, Load 1, Panther, C&M Transport are a few to begin with. We also take on owner operators.

Hey boss man, I have been looking at your channel, but I can’t seem to find it. I’m in a different industry, of course, but I’m looking to get insight fuel economy on a Ford transit 250 or 350 fully loaded. If you take a peek at my channel, I’m a mechanic so I am roughly at the 3000 pound mark

If you get a transit and hauling that much regularly, maybe look into the dually option (higher gvwr if that's what you need). If 3k lbs is the entire payload and/or build out ( tools, Equipment, etc) the next thing is will it be mostly highway miles? Ok, so my experience is that I will average roughly 17.5 mpg. This is all miles. The best I've gotten is 21 mpg, the worst being 13.5 mpg. I drive mostly highway miles. The main variables with highway miles are wind speeds, direction of the wind, weather (rain and snow creates lower mpg), and terrain (hills of WV or mountains of the west coast).
