Successfully crate trained my 8 week old golden retriever puppy within three days

Crate training has benefits for puppies and dogs. To successfully crate train Benji, we put a thin and small bed in the crate, use a divider to create a smaller space for him, put a towel from our breeder with the smell of his mom and siblings and cover the crate using a crate cover.

Our 10 month old adopted dog was crate trained within two days. Followed some training videos and worked perfectly. She cried at first but with positive reinforcement and treats she now finds confort on the crate when we tell her. Now we only crate her for times when eating and we need her out of the kitchen. But she sits there and now just chills and when we let her out she get praise.

Play with him and wear him out before the crate. Hangout for a bit till he knocks out. Shut the door, hangout some more, maybe stick your fingers in there. Then leave. Don’t give into the whining, don’t tell them to stop, don’t give any reaction at all. He’ll wear himself out. Once he’s calmed down completely, probably take a couple hours, let him out for a walk. If he’s having accidents before getting outside, carry him from the crate to outside. Rinse and repeat. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pro tip for new puppy owners: place something larger than the crate under the crate cover so that the sides don’t touch the crate walls. This way the puppy cannot pull the crate cover into the crate and chew it up. This is more applicable if you want to use blankets or something similarly soft, some crate covers have more of a tarp feel, and are more difficult for the puppy to grab on to. I’m on day 2 with my puppy and his crate. He cried the first night for about 15-20 minutes at a time and then would stop and go to sleep. Now day 2 being today it’s about 5 minutes and he goes to sleep. I still haven’t gotten him to enter on his own yet. Treats inside the crate work of course but he eats them and then wants to come out right away

No they don't, bedding can encourage destructive behaviour and toilet issues, at first it's best to have no bedding and introduce it later on. Generally speaking of course some pups are fine with it right away.

The puppy would most likely tear up the bed. Experts say that dogs prefer crates better than dog beds, due to the fact that it’s enclosed, dark, warm, and has personal space. It’s normal for a dog to sleep/stay in a crate.

For puppies it’s actually best for them to only have enough space to stand, sit, walk in a circle and lay down (so they don’t potty on 1 side and sleep on the other which can encourage the puppy to potty in the crate) .. this crate has a divider to make it smaller

That's actually not a good crate size. The crate is supposed be slightly larger than them. This is not realistic for any time they may be boarded and also encourages them to urinate/poop because there's so much space.
