I had profound hearing loss in my left hear due to idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I woke up one day and felt numbness all around my left ear and an internal pressure. Internal pressure lasted till a week and my hearing was muffled, I thought I was having a cold or flu. After a week, I lost all the hearing on the left side and took three steroid injections into the middle ear. Treatment didn't help me restore my hearing. Still doctors haven't found a reason for my hearing loss! All reports are clear. I don't even understand what causes the hearing nerve to die all of a sudden.

@@jamalmbasheer4677 No, there's no recovery for SSHL. It's permanent n I'm deaf on my left side permanently. Since my right ear is good, ENT suggested to live with it and said Cochlear implants wouldn't be necessary unless there's an hearing loss on good hearing side.

I also have some ringing in my ear but it fortunately doesn’t bother me much. I think overall hearing will get better with time hopefully.

If he gave you antibiotics then there was a suspicion of a bacterial infection inside your inner ear. 1) There's probably nothing you do 2) It's highly likely you'll never hear again. However, one day stem cell treatments would be able to restore some of your hearing but we're probably a few decades away until that treatment becomes available. 3) It will not affect your right ear in the future.

I found out why i was getting a hearing loss all the time=It was my pillow, it was full of bacteria so check your pillow and wash it every 3 months.

Sometimes how much wax your body produces and is genetic, and also may favor one ear more than the other. It's not rare for my right ear to get clogged even if I shower soapy water in my ears. It's just wax accumulates at a fast rate in that one ear for me.

You should go see an ENT doctor right away. Especially if you're experiencing hearing loss, start hearing ringing/noise or your equilibrium is off. The sooner, the better recovery. You don't want to end up with permanent hearing loss.

I just recently recovered from hearing loss in my left ear. I woke up with dizziness and everything sounded muffled. I saw an ENT on my 5th day. I had severe hearing loss in my left ear and tinnitus. They put me on corticosteroids and then started injections after my audiogram test improved. I had my last treatment last week and my hearing is pretty much back to normal.

@AMWF no noticeable symptoms other than a sharp ear pain about 24-48 hours prior, then i woke up and it was gone. my ENT said most likely inflammation caused by a viral infection of the ear

@AMWF around 1 week after loss test showed i had lost around 95+ effectiveness in across most of the spectrum, it has gotten better but mostly on the lower frequency end, deeper voices/ bassy sounds will cut through a little, but it still sounds muffled and much quieter than the other ear. it also comes and goes, some days it works better than others
