My favourite kind of videos. It’s a coincidence but this week I’ve been training with the same car, same livery (black and yellow) and same track (the Endurance combination). I’m on 53s and I’m sure that after this video I will cross the barrier of 52s.

Most of this video is a concept I learned in an Autocross Course I took. Looking ahead. When he says "Minds Eye" he's referring to looking ahead to the actual point you need to move the car to. And then once you get close to that, but BEFORE it, you move your eyes and focus to your next "checkpoint". You always need to be looking ahead, never actually keep your eyes right to the place you want to be or you will end up behind, all the time.

I just want to thank you. Thanks to your videos I was able to improve my lap times significantly to the point where I am now an A rating driver in gran turismo which was something I wanted to be for the longest time. I was stuck with a B rating for the longest but thanks to your videos I was able to move up. Thank yiu

There’s some really good advice here that I’ll be able to apply immediately. Got me thinking more about MPR in high speed corners where I’m full throttle or even just lifting slightly on turn in. Also going to be helpful to consider a wider arc on those corners means an earlier turn in. I’m sure you’ve talked about these concepts before, but they really clicked today because I’ve been practicing Lime Rock Park so this is all perfect for turns 4, 6, and 7. The idea of a checkpoint is also super helpful for setting up turn 4.

This check point emphasis and us (driver) forgetting the entry of next turn due to the previous turns exit... this definitely needs a small chapter at the least. You give a very very good and understandable way to grasp the first concept in video.

Great video lesson! The check points comments are gold. Can’t wait to try it out, and don’t forget that iRacing has a rinse and repeat feature now. Try the corner, rewind back and try it again, over and over until you get it.

Thanh you! Check points gives me something to aim at. These are exactly my problems, not opening up the corners enough and thinking every apex is important. Tried this on Suzuki. Helped alot but now I need to put in the work you change a bad habit. Thank you again!

what i learnt : he doesnt use braking and trailbraking to his advantage. He should be braking/trail braking in the fast cornrs, that way he can rotate the car easier. His lines are decent but his brake usage is not decent. He should be slowing down a bit less in the initial turn but keep the brakes at 15 10 % that way he can rotate quicker and begin adding on gas

I still race with the racing line. I want to get rid of it but I'm afraid to. Usually what I do that helps me is playing with the going in and out of the and basically throwing the car in and then catching it on the exit.

how important is it to have a good setup to handle the car in rotation and braking in a good turning? I mean, how faster / important will be with a good setup against the default one?
@CaptainCrunch99
@CaptainCrunch99 Жыл бұрын
A better set up that suits you will let you forget about the car and concentrate more on yourself and what you’re doing with the car. Great drivers will compensate for a unoptimized set up, but average drivers tend to get caught up in the car and try to force it to do things it can’t. Look for a set up that that is balanced overall, and maybe not one that is set up for a speed alien. You’ll probably gain more benefits from improving your driving techniques than from trying to learn set ups, which can really get you bogged down into the weeds. Maybe just find or buy a set up and go back to driving. Trying to learn too many things all at once will frustrate you.

There does seem to be a supreme lack of understanding over what keeps ppl coming back to the game. Single player gets you hooked and tests your skills, and I remember websites where you could post best times on certain tracks in GT3. Then I'd play long races against friends to test how we compared over 30 laps with tyre wear. Gt4 was for me the pinnacle of endurance racing in the series, aside from lack of in game saving. It was the ultimate test. Probably not quite misstating to say it was one of the main reasons to buy the game for me - get the huge LMP1s or GTs or group Cs and go do some proper racing. Then multiplayer and always online took over showing the direction of travel and emerging disdain for career mode. But that can cut off your new blood as the career mode becomes underwhelming and doesn't keep you coming back. It also doesn't offer the real tests for those who emerge as being good at the game and maybe want to go online and race globally in multiplayer. 2h races should not be daunting in a simulator, nor should it put ppl off playing competitively rather than using super OP cars out of fear of wasted time. I like the safety car idea or time penalty for not slowing through yellows etc. And this is motor racing so why does a sim racer not have these. So it is strange if the risk of putting ppl off by including endurance races is at the heart of this. I think I do subscribe to the view that this is about not knowing or caring to find out what drives ppl and why the game might appeal to a wide range of audiences with aspects that keep you coming back and trying to improve. Whether it is about collecting cool cars, getting good enough to compete online or challenging yourself to get your times or tyre wear down. Winning more easily should not be about being in an OP car. All the while this persists I fear the game won't improve in its playability.

One quesiton for the spinnig out thing: Why is it that hard to recognize in iRacing, where the limit is? It cant be that drivers have to crash hundert times into the barriers in real life to know, what the car is doing. This is the most frustrating thing in iRacing for me. The feeling for the limit is too bad in my opinion. Sry for the bad english. not nativ ;)
