There is so much confusion out there about the difference between glucose and fructose and how they affect your body. In this week’s House Call video, we are going to clear up the confusion once and for all.

I see this in so many people and have to do a lot to work on resetting norms in peoples thoughts concerning sugar and the effects it has when in pure form vs attached to a protein or similar. I wish your friend well in his study and may he publish for all of us to use in getting people on the better track.

I have discovered that high fructose corn syrup is the trigger for my gout attacks. In soda and drinks it is bad, but in food it is worse. Tart cherry juice is my remedy and works much faster than the pharmaceuticals my dad and brothers are on. When I figured out my remedy I was able to run experiments on myself to discover the trigger.

Fructose downside: it turns into fat in the liver, which is much more dangerous than fat on your body and also an invisible health risc. Glucose downside: it makes your blood sugar peek very fast which can cause insulin intolerance leading to diabetes Soft Drink industry uses higher levels of fructose (like in high fructose corn syrup's with >60% fructose) since it makes their products taste much sweeter than normal suger (50% fructose / 50% glucose) The food and snack industry also add a lot of sugar (and salt) to make their products more desirable (addiction and cravings lead to more profit). Solution: avoid drinking too much soft drinks, avoid (unhealthy) snacking too much, read the label of processed food to avoid the added sugar and avoid using too much table sugar yourself. Instead eat real food sources like fruit and vegetables, meat (or protein from legumes), whole grains and just home cooked meals in general.

@@thalesnemo2841 fructose is worse at insulin resistsnce than glucose, it causes damage to the liver which spills liver fat to the muscles making body insulin resistance. Glucose causes insulin secretion not fructose. But fructose lies at the base for insulin secretion. The comparison is a murderer used a fun to kill a person. The murderer is the fructose, the gun and bullet is the glucose. Guns don't kill without a person to pull the trigger. This is off course oversimplified. But a rough idea.

Because fruits have fibers and fiber acts on insulin response better and the crap that they sell coca cola burgers pizzas all have both glucose fructose about 80 85% end in the liver as fat and fructose from fruits only 20% stays in the liver which is normal cause the liver needs glycogen reserves and muscles as well

Fructose is a toxin that is processed directly at the liver, contributing to fatty liver disease which half the Western population is affected with. Never mind what it will do to your pancreas. Eating 5-20 pieces of fruit might be fine in your younger years, but Steve Jobs was a borderline fruitarian for many years, and his pancreatic cancer was extrapolated to have begun from one tumor cell when he was only 24 years old, with a tumor doubling time of 10 months resulting in the 10cm size at the time of his death. Everything is fine until your diagnosis. Twenty fruits a day? How old are you and five years on, how is your diagnosis?

This video causes more confusion. You are not talking about the fructose obtained from fruit. You are talking about high fructose corn syrup. There is a huge huge huge difference. This is why people are confused. When you say the word "FRUCTOSE" you have to state whether you are talking about the fructose from whole natural fruits or the processed hight fructose corn syrup. Be a scientist. Do a test on your own body. Eat only fruit for two weeks and see what happens.

all fructose can hurt the liver,from fruit aswell
@SeyidAr2 жыл бұрын
This is just wrong. It doesn't matter if it is "natural" or "artificial" fructose. It's the same substance. The reason why fruits are still healthy is because they contain much more than just sugar. Fibers, vitamins, minerals etc. Also the concentration of sugar in a fruit is not nearly as high as in processed foods. Another thing is that eating only fruits for two weeks is by no means healthy. You would miss out on essential amino acids, lipids, vitamins and minerals that can not be found in most fruits. Some people might do better in a study because their previous diet might have been even worse than just eating fruits, which isn't hard to imagine considering that a lot of people live off junk food on a daily basis.

Fructose is only metabolism by liver and only it's quantity matter whether it get from high fructose corn syrup or fruits .when difference matter was that fruits other fructose contain mineral,vitamins, polyphenols and fibre while hfcs contain fructose and other chemicals.so if considered fructose from any form is harmful for liver

I have payed close attention to how diet effects me over the past few years and I too feel a difference between sugars that have more fructose content. I react worse to substances that have more fructose (fruit). I would like to blame the HFCS industry for this. I have a noticeable allergy intolerance to fructose content. I sure wish we could more conclusively link Monsanto and others to creating certain allergies in society and sue them to death (as they have caused beyond severe suffering of people in society).
@crosswind767 жыл бұрын
For School, I read fructose intolerance is also linked to a deficiency in specific gut bacteria or too much of one type. We can blame antibiotics and even Roundup herbicide (Glyphosate, main chemical in it a patented in 2010 as antibiotic). Glyphosate converts to glyoxalate in body. Look how many people share they have oxalate sensitivity now (like me) and get pain & fatigue with foods naturally high in oxalate. It's also heavily sprayed on CORN, so I'm sure HFCS is linked too.

If sugar is stored as fat in the liver then there must be a reason for that. If you don't eat for X number of hours you'll start to use your fat for energy. So there must be a certain amount of time that will cancel out a box of donuts, right?
@TimpBizkit8 ай бұрын
Fructose and galactose are turned into glucose in the liver. Thankfully the appetite has good sensors for sugar. When you run out of room to store sugar as glycogen you tend to get very full feeling. Most of the "fatty liver" is because a lot of sugary treats (cake, ice cream, chocolate) are very high in fat. This causes insulin resistance and diabetes, but so do savory fatty treats, whether with starch (chips) or without (bacon and cheese). If you ate boiled sweets, fruit juice and meringue and other "sugar only" stuff and had very little fat elsewhere (no cheese and crackers in another meal), you are unlikely to get fatty liver. It's quite difficult to overeat sugar, because your lack of appetite slows you right down. I don't know if it's impossible, but because most people who eat large quantities of sugar aren't restricting fat (your classic land whale who loves shoveling food into their gob) it's hard to tell what's doing what. I tend to believe from my checking of Durianrider, McDougall, that your hunger tends to promote eating to a quota of glucose, (and fructose and galactose) from sugar and starch, and then added fat is a bonus calorie that has little effect on satiety or hunger if left out, nor does using body fat create a sugar craving. So at very small amounts of fat, obeying hunger creates a slight but easy calorie deficit, but for most fast food, a massive calorie surplus caused by taking in more fat than you burn to satisfy the "sugar hunger", rather than the sugar itself turning into fat. I'm a bit unsure about what happens with excessive amounts of protein and also alcohol, so I'd be careful with these. Also triglycerides can be from your own body fat being used, which is what you want!
