So exciting! I got to make my first block for Madelon from my quilt bee. She had such a super fun idea board for her theme. I had an idea that ask for applique. And since I hardly do any other hand stitches than the stitches on my binding I choose for machine applique with a blanket stitch.
Thank you for stopping by. Hope you learned something from this video! What are you working on? What would you like to learn more about?
Love,
Irene

Hi Irene, may I suggest you always draw up your bobbin thread just as you would do for free motion quilting at the beginning of buttonhole stitching. It makes for a much tidier beginning and ending. Great tutorial. I so enjoy watching your channel. Go Bernina and Irene.

This is a delightful block, Irene! You gave some really good tips. I don't do much appliqué, but I like hand work better. I'm not better at it, I just like the look more. I'm sure the recipient will be very happy with what you have created. I think her quilt is going to look terrific.

Applique is not something I like doing but if I did it I think machine applique would be my chose. I admire those who have the patience to do applique. Maybe someday I will give it a try.

I use Steam a Seam 2 Fusible. I love your hover feature! I have to lift my foot manually at ever turn! Looks great. I'd love to learn to do it by hand because I like to bind quilts so I bet I'd love hand applique.

It is very cute!!! Please show her quilt when it is finished. I tried the blanket stitch on a quilt for my brother and wish I had seen your video first. The tips on what to do in the center really would have helped me. Thank you for your videos!!! Hope your little one is doing well!!🥰

This video arrived just as I was about to start an appliqué block for a BOM I am doing with my quilting group. I have decided to machine appliqué it so the timing is perfect. Thank you! I loved your umbrella block and the colours you used are gorgeous 💕

Such a cute block. I love machine appliqué & I use the same stitch. The paper is called fusible in America. We usually just use the marketing name on the package. Good video.

Absolutely BRILLIANT. Your creativity and commitment to excellence are aMAZEing! Such fun to observe Both your design process AND modifications to your stitching procedures as you learn while stitching!!! 🥰👏 I have struggled mightily to refine my Bernina blanket stitch for small appliqué projects (my FAVES because sooo challenging 😜). This tute has helped me increase the quality of my appliqué procedures significantly. Thank you!!!

I have the hover feature on my Husqvarna Viking and, because of this, I really enjoy applique projects. One thing I find to keep the fabric nice and smooth, is to use stabilizer underneath. Your block is lovely!

Freezer paper is used for hand applique as a way to cut individual fabric pieces. Obviously freezer paper does not have a web of glue fibers as does fusible. Freezer paper does stick to fabric when ironed on with the shinny side down. The paper, non shiny side, can be drawn on for pattern shapes. I mostly use freezer paper for wool appliqué.

Were you trying to say fusible?? Do you like having to do all these processes before sewing unlike when you used your Janome? Did you ever use this stitch with your Janome?
