As a former ICU nurse you have given a better understanding of the mechanics of diabetes. I worked in an inner city hospital in Chicago in the ICU. Almost all of my patients had diabetes which led to other life threatening disease. I would recommend that your videos should be shared with every patient in the PCPS office. You make total sense with understandable, reality based in approaching a very debilitating disease. Keep up the good work! I wish all doctors were like you.👍👍👍

Life to live with medicine is not a life specially Diabetes.. When you invited in Party or in restaurant or a weeding than Diabat patients feel alone when they see every one smiling and eating delicious foods, drinking what they want but the Diabates patients can't. this truth make life worse and worse. So i am new 1 in diabetic world and I don't want to live further more.😓 I have only 2 option to defeat Diabates forever or shoot my self.. Actually , i hate my life only because of Diabates..😢

I am so glad you addressed my thoughts. I have felt like the "weird one" in the group and alone with this desease. I slip once and a while because my ego tells me stories. I have always worked toward remission but have never gotten below 7. Now I realize as strict as I have been with myself that maybe I am just not producing enough insulin. So far all my organs seem to be OK. I stay thin, eat right, exercise regularly and take a vitamin regime. I also am "consistant" about my healthy habits. But it is one day at a time. I am at the 15 year anniversay of my metabolic struggle. I am 79 with hopes of living a few more years without complications. My brother just got diagnosed and I bought your book for him. He does not have good internet where he lives. He is loving your book. You are doing humanity a great service. Thank you so much.

None of the doctors I consulted with early symptoms like swelling tummy and high blood pressure for years picked up that I was moving towards diabetes due to stress and over work. None. Until it was too late. Some even laughed at me. When I was diagnosed, my liver enzymes were high, so I had to be lying about not drinking alcohol. It could have been prevented with more knowledge like this. Now it's too late. I'm working hard at reversing after particularly stressful times, but I'll never be completely healthy again. Doctors should be trained better and not be so arrogant. I'm grateful for KZbin and videos like this one.

Here's my story. Never had a doctor and I'm 58, I had to go to the hospital for a surgery. I weighed 253 lbs/5' 10 inches tall. They did blood work, come to find out, my A1c was 11.3. No wonder I felt like crap all the time. Any way, I went on an almost no carb diet, I started eating steak, fish, pork, chicken, eggs, and cottage cheese for my dinner for the most part every day and maybe a couple of cookies for dessert. Well, it's been 3 months as of next week, and I have lost 42 lbs. and my A1c is 4.9 now! I feel/and look so much better. Hopefully I can stop taking the Metformin soon my doctor said.

I just love and need your videos, Dr Ergin.... I was diagnosed Type 2 on my 55th birthday May 2021 at an A1c of 10.5 ........I was 339lbs and I'm 5'6"...... As of August 2021, I'm down 50 lbs and an A1c of 7.3 so I have more work to do. I need to start walking for proper blood flow (I sit tooo much). I'm on Ozempic, 1/2 pill twice a day of Metformin and I take a water pill (forget the name.....Lasix?) to keep edema in my feet and ankles at bay. I had so much swelling that my skin busted open with sores that are now healed.... Again, I need to walk to help the edema too. I never went to the Dr and drank (wine & beer 3 x's a week on average) and ate whatever I wanted. I like it all,....the good, bad and the ugly when it comes to food and drink. I stopped the alcohol 8 months before being diagnosed, no more white stuff (bread, flour, rice, potatoes, pasta), no more fruit juice or any liquid besides coffee and water. I'm happy with the gradual weight loss and even tho I had pasta and bad stuff like stuffing recently (I had no other food to eat but now have food stamps until I find work) ....... So, I'm doing things right and watching your videos for a better understanding of what's happening to my body. I'm in the education for the long haul to better health and better living so I appreciate your info SO MUCH!!!! Thank you again, Dr Ergin for really shedding light on the big picture of diabetes! So sad that all of my doctors who were aware of my diabetes never advised me of lifestyle changes, Diet and exercise and the only conversation was only on more medications and trying the new meds and coming back in 6 months and then changing the meds again since the old prescription did not do as well as the doctors expected, and only pointed their finger at me for not lowering my glucose, I should of been pointing my finger at them for their lack of understanding of Diabetes, You are an amazing doctor and human being for your caring and personal involvement with your patients. They need you in charge of the American Diabetes Administration and get all the ignorant doctors on board with new training and requirements.

Dr Ergin I am in the Uk and I had 40% of my pancreas removed. I was diabetic 2 after the operation. I have a good nutritionist and brought it down to pre diabetic with low carbs but I lost 5 kilos. I had not much to lose. I was 48 kilos before and the doctor’s dietitian wants me to ear carbs. Thank you for this video which explained a lot how the body works. I will be watching your other videos as you are so clear as an educator. I have been 7 months on no bread, potatoes, pasta or rice but I worry about eating carbs because the doctor said that medication will not help and I would have to go on insulin if I become diabetic. I am not sure if I can add small amounts of carbs once a day and keep it at prediabetic.

I'm really excited because after trying so hard to lose weight, and not succeeding for years, I've lost 5 lbs in about 1 1/2 weeks since I started watching these videos. I've tried to do everything SugarMD has advised us to do: cut out simple carbs, eat more nuts and have fat and protein with fruit. I've eaten more vegetables (but still not enough). I already don't eat much red meat--maybe once a month or less--so I don't have to make any changes there. I'm still tired of eggs from doing Atkins for three years (20 years ago), but will eat them. Even though it's not recommend I still eat regular cheese in addition to the recommended string cheese. I do eat corn--against the rules!--that's in some delicious whole grain chips that have sunflower and flax seeds in them, but no added sugars. I have one slice of whole grain bread a day with a slice of Cheddar cheese melted onto it. (Toast the bread, put a slice of cheese on it and put it in the microwave for around 25 seconds.) I've bought unsweetened, plain Greek yogurt and cottage cheese to eat. I add low glycemic fruit to them. I try to not eat past 7:00 p.m. and skip breakfast which makes it sort of intermittent fasting. I also try to be in bed by 11:00 p.m., but don't always do so. I've walked some but not very far because I have M.S. and live in a hilly neighborhood which makes it hard for me. (Exercise is also recommended for M.S. so I get a double benefit.) (P.S. I'm just barely over the normal range of blood glucose levels--104, but am overweight. The SugarMd diet will help with both of these!)

Would it be a reasonable approach to initially cut down carbs to zero to get the blood sugar levels down and having a baseline, and then progressively bring back carbs to the diet while monitoring and logging the blood sugar change to get an idea of how many grams of carbs per meal/day the body can sustain staying at non-diabetic levels? Something that wasn't clear from the (formidable) video. As long as you keep the blood sugar levels down, i.e. through lifestyle change with adapted long-term diet, does the diabetes stop from progression, or will it progress and get worse even if you constantly keep the blood sugar levels in the healthy range?

Hocam merhabalar. Geçen 3 ay önce 200lerden aşağı inmeyen şeker- en yükseği 450leri gördüm- şimdi 75-120 arasında. Kesinlikle ve kesinlikle karbonhidratı kestim. Pirinç pilavı, ekmek ve patatesi tamamen bıraktım. Bu üç ay içinde 20 lbs kaybettim. Günlük toplam novolog 90 lantus 55 ve 2 metformin alırken yaparken şimdi günlük 20 novolog 20 lantus a düştüm. Çoğu zaman çok düşüyor. Önceden düştüğünü görmek hayaldi benim için. Sadece yediklerimize dikkat edip az biraz da egzersiz bu işi hallediyor. Yayınlarınızda başarılar dilerim.

Thanks for the video content! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Patlarny Sugar Outcome Principle (just google it)? It is a great exclusive product for reversing diabetes minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend at last got great results with it.

Do you have a video on how to reverse insulin resistance? I don't have diabetes but I am obese, have the darkness around my neck and skin tags so I know I am on my way. I was also told I have reactive hypoglycemia.

You are most welcome. Thank you for sharing. We love hearing from you guys always. Reminder: you guys help a lot when you watch the video in full length including ads, like, and share. When you do that KZbin starts serving more people who are probably in great need yet can't necessarily find our free diabetes educational videos among millions of other videos on youtube that are less pertinent or less educational to them. Remember this is the only diabetes channel that is created and supported by an endocrinologist who sees diabetic patients every day. Thanks for your support! Dr.Ergin
