What I can say for sure and certain fact is I was diagnosed as having insulin resistance and at risk of it progressing further (62). I have endured what I thought was arthritis in my thumbs and general aches and pains for years. Also had the restless legs thing which felt like burning in bed, regardless of how tired I was. Started taking daily dose magnesium a year ago, but the game-changer was taking sub-lingual B12 a month ago. More alert, no creepy tingling, and the hand and arm pain is pretty much gone. This happened within days. I’ve always been powerful and don’t look my age but previously this had me worried. I can now see a future. Vision, breathing and mood, has improved, and I get more done in a day. I’m still irascible though and really don’t want that to change. Great advice Doc!

I began to have sore knuckles and knees/hips a couple years ago; there's damage in the knees and arthritis all over the place; plus COPD and diabetes.. Been taking a multi-vitamin and extra folic acid/B6 for years, but perhaps I should ask the doctor if I need more than the amount in there? Your comment is encouraging.

Thank you , I’m a71 year old male . Been on Metformin approximately 20 years. I think I really need a B12 test after watching your video. I was put on Ozimpic to help control my sugar fluxing after about 6 months of taking it due to so much weight lost my Dr. just today told me to quick taking it. He drew 3 vials of blood to send to lab . Hope B 12 will be tested. He also gave me a EKG and said it looked normal and sent me to have chest X-ray due to difficulty breathing . This has been a great video wished I’d seen before my Dr. visit today. I’m fortunate because I have a great caring Dr.

I’ve been told my dizziness is vertigo. I’ve sensitive gums and tongue. I’m having sight problems (blurry vision and gritty eye feeling). I suffer from depression and mood swings, I’ve had my thyroid checked (ok) but no one suggested checking B12 levels. My current GP treats me like a whiny time wasting hypochondriac. I’m changing doctor and will be asking for my B12 levels to be checked and for a referral to a specialist to review my diabetes.

I always ask for my D3 number, "oh its fine at 35" too low for me, best at 50 - 70. When I found out I was deficient in that at a total of 9 I had been out side a lot, tan. The Endocrinologist said he had never had someone that low, how did you even function? I feel like Dr.s are sick of it, doing the same thing day in day out, not all. Another thing about B12 is if your sugar levels are high enough to cause heartburn and you take antacids it greatly reduces the mount of B12 that is broke down enough to be absorbed into the body. Our stomach needs to have adequate amounts of hydrochloric acid to activate pepsin which breaks down the protein and releases the vitamin B12. Without adequate amounts of stomach acid, vitamin B12 stays bound to proteins and never becomes free to bind with other substances that carry it through the intestinal wall into your blood.

Hi Dr. Ergin, thank you very much for all the video and good info. about Diabetes, what B12 pill you recommend? I do B12 injection, but if there is a pill to substitute injection I will be happy to try. I was in the medical field my whole life and I have an excellent Endocrinologist, but you are a fantastic Doctor, and diabetic educator.

Dr. Ahmet, what is the recommended daily allowance and upper level of B12 for the elderly and what is the optimal/desirable range?
@DoubtingThomas3333 жыл бұрын
Blood test first. 1000mcg per day for 2 months. Then a few hundred MCG per day, say 200-250. After another 6 months have gone by, another blood test.
@teresa9853 жыл бұрын
🙄 what if direct 1000 mg gives any side affects? May be safe to start with 600mg per day for a week and feel comfortable with it and later take more dosage. Normal advisable dosage per day is 600-1200 mg for adults. Depending on the person health you can decide.
@teresa9853 жыл бұрын
Better to take blood test. Because if its too low then Doc will immediately advice for IV drips. it will take 10-15 days to feel the difference. Supplements will take about 6 weeks to know the difference. Depends on how low the b12 is to decide on dosage and medications.

great info on B12 deficiency doctor. There are many types of B12 in the market. kindly talk about the differences among them what advice you give for diabetics who are taking 2000 Mg per day for many years ? How can they reduce Metforim and with what? thanks for educating us
@teresa9853 жыл бұрын
Talking about reducing Metformin... Regular exercise diet and mental peace. Try to reduce sugar level with these 3 things in life. Take blood test for b12 and let your Doc decide on which tablet and what dosage.

@@teresa985 my A1c is 6.2 and my B12 level is very good and my Neuropathy Pain is far worse than when my A1c was 13.8 years ago.A low or normal A1c is not the key I assure you.I can barely walk so I don’t get much of any exercise.
@teresa9853 жыл бұрын
@@1OFGODSOWN 🙄 Hmm I told about exercise for those with only diabetes. You should take medication and supplements for your nerves. I too had neuropathy pain for sometime. It comes and goes. But even then i can understa4 that neuropathy pain is DIRECTLY affected by sugar level and nerve related diet. Also came to know thru Dr Ergin that nerves affect heart as well. Even if heart is healthy on its own. Many supplements and medications and dieting are required. And basic simple exercise that you are able to do.
@teresa9853 жыл бұрын
@rsgadasalli I too was confused about what supplements people take. Later came to know that Dr Ergin has recommended few supplements. Please see description. You can safely take those supplements because people have commented that those supplements made them feel better. For nerve pain b12 for reducing sugar level all these supplements he has given in description.
