I am pre diabetic and working hard to stay committed to a low card, whole food, exercise, no processed food lifestyle. I am slowly loosing my taste for sugar, but occasionally want a little goody. I use Natures Besti Allulose/monk fruit extract blend, by Wholesome Yum. I found it to be the best for making occasional sweet treats. Especially during the holidays. I am very happy to have found an alternative to sugar. Thank you Dr. Ergin for all your nutritional advice and guidance. 😊

Allulose is derived from Drumroll, enzymatic conversion of corn. To boot, it states that the Allulose syrup is from genetically modified (GMO) corn and therefore contains a very toxic chemical named glyphosate.

Allulose for the win 🏆 I was using stevia then realized that stevia was NOT my friend😥 it gave me neuropathy symptoms. I kept getting pins and needles. When I realized it I immediately stopped using it but still have the symptoms just not as bad!! I've been using Allulose for almost a year now and am happy to report that I have NOT have any symptoms with this product and it taste great in your coffee to. I sadly wasn't reading labels before, but I sure do now!

GwenE, just curious, do you know if you were using natural stevia or processed stevia? Sometimes folks are using processed and don't even know.

@@CelticBearWoman It was the sweet leaf stevia. Was suppose to have been non GMO and gluten free. I can say that foot and ankle did not swell but instead got the pins and needle feeling pretty bad

Thank you for this video but do I have to mix monk fruit with something else to bake? I want to try in baking but have no idea the ratio.

Yes. Because monk fruit takes up so much less physical space, it CANNOT be the sole sweetener used to bake. I have no idea about ratios/amounts with other sweeteners though. There's a well known and well enjoyed blend of monk fruit and erythritol, I don't personally like (but my brother does), made by a brand called lakanto. I suggest trying it. It's 1:1 sugar replacement in baking.

I have never seen a total monk fruit brand, it always comes with erythritol so you can use it as 1:1 ratio like the doc said.

I buy off Amazon for like $15 ,, Monk Fruit Extract and nothing else, that's what it's called, the package is small but dont let that fool you,,no kidding in a cup of coffee all you need is the very tip of a spoon, and that's it, great stuff

Great information, .Dr. I know this question doesn't belong here. Beat Diabetes video said that apples are a big no for diabetics, is that true? According do Dennis, no one can't eat anything anymore. Please advise, thanks Sir. He said no friuts.huh? He said no fruits, no carbs.

I learned about monk fruit and allulose while searching for a keto icecream recipe. I hate stevia after taste and I need sweetener for tea and coffee. Which one monk fruit or allulose has a good taste? I have very sensitive taste buds and sensitive sense of smell. I should be working as a food taster 😅 But it is hard not finding anything to replace sugar.

My friend advised me to buy a small quantity of monkfruit sweetener at a natural foods grocer because you can buy a tiny amount from the bulk foods bins. So I did.

I use a product that uses both monkfruit and erythritol. It advertises a 1:1 comparison of sweetness to sugar. But I find that I only need to use half as much to sweeten like sugar. I don’t like stevia because I get an unpleasant aftertaste. Monkfruit rocks!
