That poker face lady got her ass handed to her several times and yet the plots still continue for some reason. It was her plan to gather the Seppuku Squad. She failed, because one of her member went rogue. So, she managed to salvage the situation as if this was THE world-level threat she was talking about and everyone was okay with it... It'd be make more sense if this event was during BvS event. But, completely ignoring the existence of their literal heroes after talking about them(flashback) is super weird.

Technically speaking fighting fire with fire is actually a thing. You see, a forest fire can’t spread across a patch of burnt forest. So in order to stop a forest fire that is too big to control, it’s possible to controllably start a fire outside of the forest fire and burn a small part of the forest. So when the actual big fire reaches that spot it can’t go further because there’s nothing left to burn. Kinda risky though. Also doesn’t really make sense in the movie here, the idea is still bad in this case.
