I’ll just point this out there: I am obviously (like many of you) very worried for this game right now at the current moment, but at the same time, this is Rocksteady (the creators of the LEGENDARY Arkham Asylum, City, and Knight that all have very favorable reception from fans even now in 2023), and not Square Enix (who just chose the live service genre on purpose). Whatever problem awaits em, I have no doubt that they’ll try the very hardest that they can to work around any issue we fans might have with the game in terms of gameplay. We’ll just have to wait and see, though, regardless. Anyways though, have fun with Spider-Man and Guardians in the meantime. Stay Heroic, Comic Fans!

no matter how bad the bp and monetization is I hope to god the gameplay will be on par with the Arkham games or even better and the traversal is super fleshed out because jumping off a building as king shark and smashing down into a group of baddies sounds like a dream

I am very hopeful that we get an amazing game for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady has built up quite a bit of an amazing reputation when they gave us the Batman: Arkham games, and I hope it doesn’t turn into another Gotham Knights or Marvel’s Avengers type situation. But for me I will give this game a chance based on what I have seen on the gameplay specifically so far and it does look rather intriguing.

@@davidbauer3639 that’s your opinion and you are entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion, there were some good things about Gotham Knights and some not so good things about it. Some of the good things I liked was the overall story. The excellent voice over cast for the main characters. The unique design of Gotham City and the different interesting ways to solve crimes in the game. But at the same time, the combat felt rather slow, especially when you compare it to other similar games like the Batman: Arkham games and the 2 Insomniac Spider-Man games. The pacing of the story did tend to drag throughout portions of the game. And one other issue was the not being able to run the console versions on 60 FPS, that kind of took away the quality from the game.

In truth, I first considered getting the game, mainly out of respect for Kevin Conroy, rest his soul, but the image we saw before being similar to how Marvel's Avengers was with the online-co-op component to the campaign didn't feel right, even though I never played it but I saw how it had potential but the direction in it was off. That and how more lucrative the gaming industry is these days, so I've preferred to never purchase anything without knowing more about how the game performs itself in the final draft

I’m tired of battlepasses and I’m tired of games tying cosmetics being tied to battlepasses and I’m tired of having paying twenty dollars for a mediocre skin. In the 2000s era cosmetics were unlocks and there was a ton of them and they were cool and now you have to pay 20 bucks for a skin that takes them two seconds to make and look stupid as hell

Why would I worry about something I don't see myself buying? Spiderman 2018 has currencies in the form of Backpack, hideout, landmark, crime, research and challenge tokens. Unless the currencies are implemented like that to encourage engagement like Spiderman with fair progression and remove the battlepass and store. I might open up to the game. But their silence isn't helping we still haven't received unedited gameplay.

Sefton hill said that Metropolis will be the most detailed open world ever created. Look at arkham knight how gorgeous is and detailed from 2015

@@luckyraygun1607I'm not trashing it hell I was one of the few (you and Zlatan being the ones I ran into frequently) defending this game from the gotham knights fanboys who wanted it to fail on podcast now and VGfightschool audience members when they were calling it a live service (guess they were right). I would say exactly what you're saying on top of saying it's not a live service game as it was described on the Playstation website as a action shooter, Sefton Hill described it as an action shooter character driven game just arkham with the added layer of gunplay and co-op. Trailers don't even have the indicator or warnings for in-game purchases. They were hiding it knowing exactly what would happen. They haven't shown unedited gameplay and we are 4 months or less away from release. Showing us something for it won't affect hogwarts legacy either. The longer we wait the more people will lose trust Rocksteady needs to move. Trailers are cinematics when we all know gameplay is very crucial. They can't mess up spiderman 2 is coming out this year. I was actually coming around considering the potential but the live service elements knocked me right off because we all know these publishers prioritize a prestine in-game store and bastardize gameplay. I was going to make this one of my exceptions by pre-ordering it but now this is a I'll buy it second hand or not even touching it at all. Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker leaving isn't working in their favor either. I hope they somehow remove this battlepass and store. People are keeping it simple by not buying it. We wanted a superman any game that isn't suicide squad but we got the suicide squad and I tolerated it.

This is an incredibly clickbaity and illogical POV. They didn’t talk about live service in a brief summary because it’s not live service at its core. The article you covered last week confirmed the battle pass and screenshot of the UI, confirming live service CUSTOMIZABLE elements. That means its not the core focus of the game, that’s the story, and the multiplayer exploration of metropolis (something exclusive to this game). Keep in mind, previous Arkham games had a store where you’d buy skins. Keep in mind, Spider-Man had multiple types of currently to buy suits. This is another spider Stan looking for reasons to bash dc for not being marvel. Prove me wrong.

If the currencies are like the landmark, crime, backpack, challenge, backpack and hideout tokens then the game will be fine but the battlepass and store have to go and allow us to unlock the skins. It's that simple.

Not tryna j**x you but thought I might say something 3:58 this is f-ing ridiculous. Even before marvel’s avengers launch there was a lack of gameplay footage but at least a gameplay trailer came out in august 2019 even before the game was delayed to September 2020(original release date was March 2020) If your game is live service, it should be free or no more than $30. At least then you can use the free to play model as an excuse for mediocrity even though that’s still not good

I hate when people compare a game to Avengers only based on the battle pass. No, that’s not the only flaw of the game. Avengers has such a dull/ repetitive combat system with a poor game design, a blend story, a lack of boss fights and unreadable game at times because of the overflowing of enemies. I would’ve wished the battle pass was the only problem.

People keep telling me things are "too big to fail". Halo infinite selling "challenge skips" on its battlepass happened JUST NOW. They built a system with challenges so bad that skips were valuable. The players couldn't simply...change their armor color and they left. Jiggle physics waifu in bank busting free 2 play games but conservative Harley Quinn for mOdErN game. I’m not just worried, I’m straight up terrified for this game. Since it’s in the Arkhamverse, it could be even worse than Avengers and I don’t just mean that it’s apparently a live service. The plot leaks about the game recently just screams that it could be a disaster. I know a Rocksteady dev responded to the leaks a while ago, but we have to remember that Warner Bros. is involved and they’re well known to do stuff that makes absolutely no sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if they attempted to reboot the Arkhamverse to gain more money or something.

if you experienced “damage sponges” in Gotham knights, it’s because you played it wrong. You were using the wrong gear or you weren’t leveling up or you weren’t paying attention to what your enemies resistances were. Gotham knights was not action adventure, like Arkham. It was action adventure, RPG, that RPG means you have to craft your character to fit the situation. Or if you’d prefer to ignore the RPG elements just play on easy mode.
