Amazing game. A buddy of mine introduced me Suikoden 1 and before that Final Fantasy 3 on SNES. Good lord I was young back then hahahahahaha. I was addicted to Suikoden 1 at first sight, borrowed it from him for months. Finally I beat it and gave it back to him. I came from a very small town that Wal-Mart back then didn't even carry Suikoden 1, so one day I went to the Flea Market with my parents, there was a booth setup for a makeshift game store. I ran over to it, and there it was Suikoden 1. 35 bucks lol, I begged an pleaded my mom to buy it for me. About 1 year passed since then, Suikoden 2 was coming out I wanna say on a Tuesday and the Flea Market was only open Saturday and Sunday. I begged my sister to take me to that game booth at that Flea Market the Saturday prior, she did. I talked to the owner of the booth, gave him 60 bucks, and gave him my address. He drove to my house on Tuesday the release date, knocked on the door (he made sure he waited until I was home from school) and handed me my copy. I did the exact same thing with Xenogears as well lol. Man, I just realized how old I am, but those were great times. I may even start a "Let's Play" for Suikoden 2 here in the very near future. Great content btw, and spot on review. Keep it up.

I love this game, my fav retro jRPG. Some of my complaints are that by the time you get to late game strength (Magus guy and late game hybrid spells, maxed items best runes, etc), the game is pretty much over. I wish they'd let you peak in strength and then have a nice long arc of challenging battles to use them in. Also, sucks that I couldn't get my Suikoden 1 data for 2, I wanted to get Tir. Amazing game tho will probably replay. If anyone has suggestions for games very similar to Suikoden 1+2 I'd love to hear them. Great vid

there's a GS code to active that data and get the hero from the 1st to appear in that village, if you dont have save data from the first.

Probably my favorite game ever. The time I spent trying to speed run the letters for the Clive sidequest as a kid were some of the most enjoyable times of my youth

This was the pinnacle and literally one of my top favorites simply because of the depth the game gave. So many characters to enjoy! Clearing out a dead dragon, getting a castle and watching it grow. Cook offs! God the list is endless!

This game was and still is my favorite RPG, nothing really hit that itch. I rebought it through the sony store cause sadly i dont have like 200 for an actual copy. But the story is great! Love its art and the battles feel so smooth. Chrono Trigger is a close 2nd, but i enjoy the politics game play and strategic battles, duels and story are just overall great. I have rebeaten it again just last year!. Been going through all your vids lately, been enjoying the content. Take care and thank you for your efforts! *edit* When i first played Suikoden 2, i thought when luca bright was killed was the end, as a kid i was not the most patient, so i returned it to the rental store and it took many years to get it again and be so upset at myself for not finishing it before because after that it was never returned to the store by the person who rented it next! XD

Yup, this is easily one of the best RPGs of all time. I still have my original PSX disc of it. Such a great story, music and battle system. I go back and play this one every few years.

Lol what? The Suikoden 2 we got was less complex script-wise than the one they originally envisioned? Shit, makes me wonder what *that* game would have been knowing how epic the Suikoden 2 that we got was.

I personally don't like JRPG. I don't like the grinding and random encounter, they are just tedious. But i love Suikoden 2 even they still have random encounter but the battle system is really quick and i love the story so much. This is one of two JRPG games i have ever play and love.

Thanks for the video - it's been over a decade since I played this. I haven't played much in the last decade in terms of games overall, haha. I liked this game also for some mini games. But the story was actually very short - I remember I felt the game ended quite abruptly.

This is probably my favorite Suikoden, but 3 was really good too. The story of Riou, Nanami and Jowy was probably the best of that time. It had everything, and the game improved on the first game. Amazing sequel.

Toss up between Nanami getting shot or Luca Blight getting shot multiple times, both were shocking to me at the time. Finding out Jowy was with Highland after everything was memorable too.

@@Xygor Suikoden II is definitely a top 5 game. FF Tactics...you can argue that it might be. It was definitely an amazing game. The others though....well I've never played Xenogears so I can't comment on that one.
