Suit A | Vintage inspired CAPSULE WARDROBE | Blue linen skirt & top | Colourful & Sustainable

I've finished the top of suit A and have almost completed the skirt as well. In this video I show you my inspiration for these items in my vintage inspired capsule wardrobe and also my sewing progress. I'm talking about why I chose these designs and how I am using different element to highlight my good features and distract from the ones I want to play down. I read a brilliant quote during my vintage style research which said "Play up your good points, hide your figure irregularities and emphasise your individuality". This is what I am attempting to do in my capsule wardrobe.
I used the Vogue V8875 sewing pattern, which I then altered into a top by extending the length, and the Retro Butterick 6308 sewing pattern to create the skirt. The next item to design and create is the jacket.
I also had a wonderful 'find' on the 'last chance' rail at my local recycle boutique and I've modelled that for you at the end :-)

Thats all coming along so nicely. Your little top is very pretty. That’s going to work well with the other garments. Your skirt looks fine without a waistband, that was clever saving the fabric so you can cut the jacket first. Facings instead of a waistband must be coming back in. Just in the last 6 months or so, several indie designers have put patterns out with that arrangement. You can be ahead of the wave! WooHoo! 😋

If you don't have time to work on your dress find, I would try it on with a wide belt to see how it looks. That will allow you to wear it loosely when it is really warm but fitted when it is cooler.
