What a beautifully acted and filmed movie. I could totally see this as a chapter in a feature length movie that I could watch again and again. I really enjoyed this. It's does have that "A Kiss in the Snow" vibe. Thank you for sharing this.

It was actually going to be a feature film, but I hated the long version and edited it down to the current length. Hopefully one day, I will make a gay feature film:-)

I've seen three of your short films, and they are all pretty sad, it should be nice for a change to see one were the characters enjoy some happiness, after all most of the time life is not so sad, even for youngsters. Good films, congrats.!!

A lovely film , I can relate to the caressing scene as i had a similar experience with my first love , I think Mads and christian knew that he wasn't really asleep , an in that way they could experience a tender moment without having to admit anything .

Wow! I saw this short film for the first time almost 20 years ago, and it was one of the first times I saw on a screen someone living something similar to what I was living, it was so powerful and touching... (I discovered The Margarets here and wrote them and they sent me their CDs, I still have them!) This was around 2002-03... Today watching a show they played a song that reminded of The Margarets and that reminded of this, I Googled "the margarets gay film" just to see if by any chance this would come up and it was the first link, watching this again after almost 20 years... You made me cry again but for different reasons. Thank you, best wishes from Costa Rica! PD: Btw I always thought how a second part would have been great :). Thank you for your art!

Beautifully acted and filmed. But I have to agree with those who wanted a happy ending. Life is full of frustration and pain, and every life ends with suffering and death. Every life. All of us. I don't need for someone else to show me this, I already know it from repeated personal experience; and I don't want to waste my time vicariously suffering through someone else's pain. That is just masochistic in the audience and sadistic in the film maker. I want relief from sadness and worries and frustration. If I were asked to name the perfect gay short film, I would say "Lucky Blue," a beautiful Scandinavian short. It shows the reality of life, with its uncertainty and frustration, but at the end I feel heartened and encouraged to go on living and looking for love. If any of the readers of this comment haven't seen "Lucky Blue," I urge them to do so. It gives us a beautiful experience that we can all relate to.
@Grimhart894 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with you at all. I mean I understand where you're coming from but it's not a fact that every life ends in suffering and pain just because you think it does. That's just your perception of things, your opinion, nothing more. Also, it seems a bit selfish to me to say "I don't need someone to show me this", as if the movie is meant to be made entirely for you and your emotions. The filmmaker is telling a story and you should appreciate it either way. Maybe it's based off a personal experience of theirs, and they wanted to share it with people. Should they change the ending to a "happy one" simply so you don't feel sad? I also don't think it's healthy to live in a 'fantasy world' where you shut out certain emotions and wish to only consume happy thoughts, because everything else is a "waste of time". All emotions are meant to be experienced - love, loss, heartache, happiness, sadness, anger....every emotion. If you can't even enjoy a film that deals with these emotions how can you possibly deal with them in real life? I for one would find it tremendously boring if every story, movie, show, etc that I watched had a perfect happy ending where nothing goes wrong. That's not realistic in the slightest, and as a gay man who had a complicated, almost 2 year 'relationship' (if it can be called that) with one of my straight best friends during my teen years that ended in heartbreak for me - I can wholeheartedly say I immensely enjoy films such as these because they portray the realness of youth and the struggles we go through, and in turn can teach others of the hardships gay men face when searching for love. Happy endings are great too, and I love the films I've seen with happy endings, such as the film 'Shelter' for example. A fantastically heartwarming movie where the couple ends up together in the end. I just think there's a time and place for everything and you shouldn't just brush something under the rug and disregard it because it 'made you feel sad'.

Frankie. We bout know that they love each others but one is never ready to admit it. Neither one will have a life that they want. They will regret all their life. Lost opportunity. Your parents summer house is the perfect place for such a romantic tragedy.

wow ,a really good build up to no sex scenes good short movie ,l think it could have had a bit more action in the Lounge room to scenes were Christian goes farther & they end up in Bed together. l was surprised by your response to Erica that you think happy endings are overrated ,may in some stories but not all stories ,l think there has to be a Mix , a kiss in the snow ,wow that was "Hot" again thinking when he turned up to borrow screwdriver , things could have taken a turn for the better , & they end up in his bedroom making out ? But gotta be honest & say most shorts end up very Short ? And that upsets most a lot of viewers ,who want More . May be l am a dirty old man who knows lol .

I just binged watched all your posted shorts and I am so impressed with the depth of characters. I must disagree that your shorts are tragedies. They are life and life is messy. Was the last kiss an “I-accept-you-kiss” or did he try to tell him that he felt the same? Guess that’s what the writers wanted, leaving the answer open.

beautifully shot and great acting; I have no reservations as to how expert you are.....BUT....the dragged out dialogue, the looooooong pauses between question and answer and the joyless, sombre mood of the vacation. I hope this is not typically how Scandanavians holiday! Christian had a guitar, but we never heard him play or any singing going on. There was no joy. and what is it with young girls needing constant reassurance and reaffirmation? Their unending neediness would be irritating and exhausting.
@thierryf678 жыл бұрын
look again the movie... He's playing sometimes. And for the dark mood.... Separation don't help a lot to be happy. And i remenber uneasy times when i was a teenager, too. Life isn't happy every day.

It might just be me but I always find people touching someone while they are asleep wrong. The person has no say in what's going on especially since they are drunk and are passed out. I know Mads was awake but Christian didn't know this. That part was not my favorite... I love your other films though!
@FrankieSunshine0076 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, it is very wrong to touch someone else, while they are asleep. My intention was to explore the protagonists problem with his action. I am very happy you love my other films. Thanks.

Another no happy-end story zzZZzzZZzz gay means happy, and hardly ever do I see gay short films with happy ending. So sad.
@johnsinclair87818 жыл бұрын
It's pretty hard to put a happy spin on teen romances; they're transitory by the very nature of the characters involved. When we are just starting out, we inherently pick the wrong boy a few times. We make a few false guesses. At that age too, we're in transition, and the boys we date are also remaking themselves season by season. Who among us is still with our high-school crush. For that matter, we don't even keep our model cars or album collections or whatever other hobby seemed life-or-death then.

This was shit. First off, don't normalize sexual assault. It is not a joke. Wether he was drunk, awake or unconscious. You don't touch somebody who doesn't give consent. Period. It's gross.
@FrankieSunshine00724 күн бұрын
Thank you so very much for your honest opinion. Much appreciated. I totally agree, you don't touch somebody who doesn't give consent. My short film was made more than 20 years ago to create a debate about consent, thankfully awareness regarding consent has totally changed. If I had made the film today, it would have been a different movie.
