SUMMER BREAMING! Feeder fishing an ancient lake for slabs

Summer is here and this red hot video sees me return to Warren Pond, run by Farnham Angling Society, for only the second time - where I admire the old estate lake's natural beauty and use some stinky groundbait with a feeder to tempt some of the water's big, golden bream.
The slabs are in an obliging mood, at least until the sun gets too high in the sky, so watch me catch a few good bream and savour the sights and sounds of summer.

I like a dustbin lid ,,a day on the tip does for me ,here in Scotland we catch them to 12lb and are always hungry 😅

A double-figure dustbin lid… We have a few down here, too, but I’m yet to get one! Closest was an 8lb PB but I had that while carp fishing to be fair. I’ve had a 7lb+ river bream and they are different creatures all together. A bit more lively 😀

LOL, I know… Cheers Neil. P.S. I just did rubbish in a match up north but it was a very difficult day and one bloke managed third with just two fish! I had 31 silvers but nothing over half a pound.

@@themagicoffishing Actually down here in West Cornwall, Nance Lakes, not brilliant early morning fishing, but just a beautiful time of day before the world (not the sunrise and wildlife amidst the dawn chorus) awakes. Like evenings when time appears to standstill and is so peaceful, beautiful. Like heaven touching earth. But you capture the essence of that both through your videos and book. Haven’t finished the book, but already don’t want it to end. Trying to take it slowly. 👩‍🌾🙏🫶🎣🌅👍

@@themagicoffishing Funnily enough don’t ever remember having to set alarms as I’ve a tendency to naturally wake up especially if a morning fishing session is in the offering. Only recently, last 2 years got back into fishing after a nigh on 50 year break, apart from a few months in 1999 when I was made homeless and stayed with a family who lived below Carn Marth, near Lanner, Redruth in Cornwall. It was visiting the cafe at Nance 2 years ago last May that I fell in love with the 3 small lakes there. Bought my rod license next day and was fishing 5am on the Thursday. I’d recently retired a year after my 65th Birthday with ‘burn out’ being a Mentor in the local secondary school, it was like refinding my roots. Just loved it, but so much to learn with the incredible changes that have happened in the intervening 50 years or so. Don’t get many opportunities to fish evenings as I’m main cook and bottle washer at home of an evening, but I’ll have to address that situation as evenings are such a beautiful time to be bankside, and the fish do tend to come on and feed. 👩‍🌾🫶🎣🌅👍

Nice session John, you got in to a decent shoal of bream, that second was a proper lummox . As you say, rivers back next week, I'll be on the hook of the wey & thames near the minnow & work me way to Desborough island looking for chub. Had a walk out there Wednesday, anticipation on overdrive. Tightest of lines sir 🐟🪱🎣👍

I know the Minnow! Used to pedal down there from Woking with my little lad on one of those one-wheel bike extensions off the back, back when we lived by the canal. Great exercise but a pint at the halfway mark was always grand in summer. I’ve got a ridiculously busy few months coming up (much involving fishing) but maybe we’ll have an afternoon on the river sometime. Enjoy the big day 🎣 I will be on the Wey somewhere before watching the England game with my lad (now as tall as me) - as it’s also Father’s Day.
