Summer CRAPPIE Fishing With LIVE MINNOWS‼️ HOW I Hook My MINNOWS & WHY?

In this video, we are summer crappie fishing with live minnows. I show you how I hook my live minnows for crappie fishing and WHY I choose to do so. The main reason why I "thread" my minnows on, is because the bluegill will take that minnow off with ease, if it is hooked through the back or the tail. Even though that minnow is threaded on the hook, not only can that minnow still move, crappie can still sense the distress signal that minnow is giving in the water. I am also "popping" that minnow back to me under the cork to give it more of a lively action. Minnows will be your best summer crappie fishing bait, PERIOD! Your explanations and strategies on catching crappie in different seasons and where is very helpful. Also, suggested presentation, colors, lure weights, maintaining strike zone during retrieval and find their depths, rigging options are all very effective and helpful. Some of these things I forget about when it’s “go time”. The “why” when catching goes hot and cold. Great stuff that you don’t get from theses “pros” on the outdoor channel trying to pimp bobby garland or the like without explaining as why or how and what to do when the bite is challenging. Good stuff my friend.

We have a doc in a cove with channels on either side, 5ft depth. I think I’ve been missing out. Have you ever thought about making your own honey hole by sinking structure that would invite fish? You’re successful anyway so I’m guessing not.

I fish from the bank. My longest pole is a 6’6 zebco moderate action. Eventually I want to get a acc crappie stix but for now do you think my pole will be good enough or is a longer pole completely necessary?
