Great video RJ! I totally get the whole summer is not the same when you get older. I work in a library and summer is our busiest time. We host a huge reading program so kids can stay reading when they are not in school. It's great, but madness.

Hi RJ! I know it's a bit late, but I wanted to congratulate you and Will (YOUR NOW HUSBAND-OMG) on your wedding. You guys probably heard this a MILLION times, but it was so amazing, beautiful, and those VOWS- just WOW! And I've been to a lot of weddings! The truth. Its especially hard for those of us who work from home. We tend to work the entire day because we don't have a set time that we have to get off work. Yesterday I got up at 6am to start working and I ended up coming out of my office at like 9pm. I honestly lost track of time.😧I haven't been able to just goof off for the summer in a long time. These bills aren't going to pay themselves.

I've been working from home for over a decade, and found that everything got immeasurably better when I committed to set hours. I work 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday. My clients know this, my friends know this, so we can all schedule things around that. Most importantly, my boss (I telecommute) knows this. That helps EVEN MORE because there are now firm lines in the sand for what time is "Work time" and what time is "Me time".

Ah yes, the disillusionment of realizing summer as an adult is not a Corona commercial. I live near a popular lake but its been years since I've been able to go. My summer will be spent selling bathing suits and outdoor fun equipment to people who actually will have the time to use them, and my paid week's vacation will be spent fixing my bathroom. Yay Summertime!

So nice to see you! Great video. So, reality check. You are correct, if you have a job, keep it, and then, magically, time will pass, as it has for me. I am retired from both teaching and retail, and am now enjoying constant "Summer Break" since I retired in a hot ass place, and it is wonderful. January and February are our only dicey months and it never gets below 50oF! So, if you work hard for 40 plus years, and stay healthy, you can have your halcyon "Summer Lifestyle" again. Trust me.

You know, I thought I would also work until the very end as well, but luckily for me, I have this wonderful Husband, who made it possible for us both to retire with out working to the very end of life. I do admit, social programs I never thought I would need, help us a bunch, but good planning for the future starting now, will help you and Will to an Endless Summer situation. Heck, my sister is 10 years older than I am and she is still working to feed a never ending need to buy things she and her husband think they need to be happy. If you can figure out what you need to be happy, and keep headed towards that goal, it will happen. Good Luck, and again, congratulations on your wonderful Wedding. My big wonderful Husband, former Navy Seal, even watched and had to have a tissue handy. Great stuff!
