I realize that my into isnt super clear - honestly the clips of me swinging were giving me motion sickness as i edited so i had to delete a lot of what i said to cut it down lol. mainly, i was starting to be concerned with 1. wasting my time and using social media to fill moments when i could be doing other things i love but that might take a little more effort and 2. how much my personal taste and how i place value on things was being affected by the content i was seeing online. So i tried to get offline, waste my time other ways lol, and focus on things that i know have and will always bring me joy regardless of an algorithm! hope that makes sense and sending love always!

I enjoyed the intro a lot! There's a bit of a different texture to this video, compared to your usual vlogs; not just because of the intro, but overall, and it's sweet how the change in cinematography is reflecting your character development, so-to-speak. 😊 I think we all have to remember that social media, and the internet in general, is a tool at the end of the day. And as with all tools, how well or badly it works for you often depends on how you use it. I have found great and beautiful things and people thanks to social media, but it sure is easy to get swept up and have the algorithm go from useful to detrimental. So kudos to you for re-examining how you're using this particular tool in your life, we all should do that more often! :) I'm excited to see where your musings and wanderings are taking you in the long run, and how that will affect the videos you're making in the future. ❤

Introspective Cari is refreshingly honest for an "influencer"... I liked your mood boards... I challenge you to pick a room in your apartment and decorate it as if you'd won the lotto... I noticed that my 'waiting for the lotto life' inhibited me from actually doing anything, so I did what I could with what I had within the bounds of being a tenant, and I felt really good about making my space as mine as possible

I've been following your videos since the beginning of this winter.. So much so that I continue to watch from current to old videos with great pleasure. When I don't feel like doing something or I'm in a low mood, your content always makes me feel at peace. I have a master's exam this Monday and I'm pretty nervous (I graduated from the art history department last year🐿️) Now, while I was having such a tense night, this video of yours made me get away from the thoughts in my head a little. I hope you will always continue to create content because you really have a channel that is completely unique and has different feelings. Thank you for inspiring. 🌸🪺

Cari, I love watching your videos so much. The music, the visuals, your voice, your taste in books-all of it speaks to my soul. I have been on my own social media cleanse journey the past couple of months. My challenge has been to be completely off socials and for about two months now I’ve only logged in 5 times. I have noticed a WORLD of difference in my mental health, how I spend my time, and my confidence. I’ve found similar issues within myself-that I almost no longer know what I actually like vs things that I’m just exposed to over and over. This has been a study in getting to know myself again and the gifts it has brought me are: •reading SO much more, and rediscovering my own taste in books •a return of self confidence, feeling more at home with my body type and facial features, no longer feeling the need to compare to others (and frankly no longer feeling like I need to compare or chase the lives of others) •the big ones- I have signed up for yoga teacher training, a dream I’ve had for years. I have noticed more gratitude and joy in my everyday (like picking up my cat each morning, kissing him on his precious furhead and marveling at the softness of his fur). This break has brought me closer to myself. I agree that phones, social media are not inherently‘evil’ but I do think the seperation is healthy. Glad to be journeying something similar with you! Lots of love from the US 🤍

This came at a perfect time- I just impulse deleted tiktok this morning! I did a social media-free week a couple months ago and it was really helpful. Like you I was starting to feel a bit lost in myself, and noticed a decline in my concentration. I think I'm going to try it again this week :) I also really enjoyed the structure of this video, starting with the swings and ending with you in the park reflecting. It really captures the feeling of summer! ps - I would also recommend apps like screen zen. You can set timers that are more intense than the standard "ignore for 15 minute" button, which does basically nothing for me. I have mine set to make me wait 30 seconds before an app opens, and I am only allowed to open them 7 times a day. People in my life find it a bit absurd but it does really help me!

Loved this! and it was so timely for me because I've also been feeling quite stagnant that was induced with anxiety; I'm waiting for something and that wait made me just drown in a slump of not doing anything that I used to enjoy; so I ended up spending way too much on social media scrolling and I'd end up feeling super unsatisfied with everything I have! I was feeling very bad to the point of losing my apetite. But thankfully I talked with my family and also started to get back into the things I like (learning languages, taking photos, watching old classic movies) and I'm feeling much better. It's important to be able to get yourself out of that slump before it's too late! So, I'm happy you're feeling better now too!

I've started trying to distance myself from my phone as well. My friends a teacher and she said that children's attention span is now like only 8minutes because of tiktok and it got me thinking if their attention span has been affected surely mine has too. So I decided to try and put down my phone, stop putting my headphones in to avoid having to talk to other people and the change is insane. I didn't realise how much of life I'd been like tuning out. Its been hard definitely but really worth it to be back in the world and just enjoying the moment I'm in.

I realized I was doing this too! I have a wind down routine of watching KZbin while I play an hour or two of video games before I really kick into gear getting stuff ready for the next day. But I realized I only end up catching half of what's going on in the videos or I have to pause my game at certain spots to really pay attention. It's just so easy to get sucked in so I've been putting music on first before anything, playing my games and then only watching KZbin when I have everything done so I can focus only on the video and relaxing in bed! Ironically my other relaxing in bed activity is pinning different things on Pinterest that I like for my future dream home because I also never know what it would look like but I love certain features and architecture. Sometimes people just have a dream locked in and I've always been jealous because I never want the trend or what's one specific design theme.

The intro with the swingset is spectacular...as is your music choice in the Cranberries. "Rear Window" is so good! I've got a movie recommendation if you want to just put on something in the background: If cottage core were a movie, it would be "The Taste of Things" (Ahn Hung Tran, 2023). There is a storyline in there, but it doesn't really matter if you only pay attention to the food. If you're desperate for an audiovisual text that engages the senses without too much "excitement," watch it.

I’ve definitely had moments like you were experiencing while making this video, usually along the lines of “Am I doing this activity because I like it and it brings me joy or is it because I feel like I have to/it’s expected?” (Eg this will make me a well-rounded person, it’s healthy, etc.). Reflecting on what really makes you feel like your best self and sometimes giving yourself that little push to do those things will remind you “Yeah I actually do like XYZ!” Without having to think too hard about it. Can be easier said than done though for sure 😊 way to make that leap and focus on what you truly care about!

It's interesting because one of the reasons I loved living abroad was because I was "away" from everything here in the US and I felt like I could hear myself! I feel like times have changed so much and the phone would steal that away from me if I were abroad now so I can understand what you are saying! The first time I went to Japan the iPhone didn't exist, and I still watch Lost in Translation from time to time just to remember how magical that was.

Ahh I love Rear Window! A perfect summer movie. My siblings and I used to watch it all the time as kids. And just recently I showed it to my 10 year old daughter for the first time and she loved it!

Oh! I have been going to this book warehouse sale for probably 5(?) years now. They used to go to the Seoul International Book Fair but started opening their warehouse I think twice a year. It's one thing I look forward to every year...but my husband does not. 😅

thank you for just. sharing your life and yourself with us. it means so much to just see someone who is doing their best everyday and appreciating the small moments, it’s like reading a really good book and it makes me feel connected to life & myself and yeah :’) some of my best music listening experiences have been when a new album comes out from my favorite artists and i just listen to the album in my ear buds, doing nothing else (Charli by Charli xcx, Immunity by Clairo) ALSO you like pale waves??! i saw them open for the 1975 in 2019 and instantly fell in love, i need to listen to their new stuff!!

I was loving this video and then the anti-romantic cover came up and I fell in love all over again and all the memories associated with the song came up too. I agree with you on the mindless scrolling, it could be a June thing or idk what, I’ve had so much work but I’ve been scrolling Instagram and Facebook mindlessly in June and I’m not even one to put work aside and just scroll. Somehow June was physically painful, bored and all that until I picked up My Year of Rest and Relaxation, in the beginning I was thinking ‘oh someone who feels meh and is merely existing’ and halfway through I woke up, I felt like I am the one sleeping away doing nothing, I finished the book and the first thing I did was realize that my room and bathroom needed cleaning, clearing 😂, I went on a deep clean, discarded or donated things I don’t use anymore and it finally dawned on me that I spent two months without even realizing it. Also if you want to reduce screen time, I suggest you check out DIY Book Nooks or miniature dollhouses, the booknooks take like 2 days to assemble and it’s so much fun. I get mine from aliexpress and it’s a very refreshing hobby. It’s still raining here now and then and hopefully by late July/August the sky would clear up for some amazing walks in the evening. Thank you for this video, it was very healing, reminded me of the korean movie Little Forest 😄. And there is not much to happiness, it’s the little things that make us happy and look back ❤️
