I carry a Springfield Mod 2 in 9mm or .45ACP. I carry appendix with a Tulster IWB holster, same holster for either gun. Great video and nice nails at 4:32 LOL I carry at all times, both winter and summer. My setup is totally comfortable, hot or cold.
@LoadsofBacon6 жыл бұрын
Does the weather determine the caliber, or something else, or is it just which ever one you happen to feel like carrying that day?
@robertbyrns50396 жыл бұрын
The 9mm is my primary carry probably because I had it first. They both weigh nearly the same and capacity is (13+1) as compared to (12+1) so no real difference there. I used to carry my Sig 239 in .357 Sig but the capacity of that was only 7. I do prefer the backstrap safety plus the trigger safety on my S/A pistols compared to the de-cocker on the Sigs. Never had an incident but I just feel as though there is an added safety feature with my S/As. I have numerous handguns but I dress mainly for comfort. Weather has nothing to do with any of my choices!!!

I think we need a video on your home made kydex shell. Summertime I go with the LCR snubbie in 38 and winter time I choose the Sig P229 with 147 grain 357Sig. I have been carrying a SP101 that I bought recently but it's still just in try out, I haven't decided to make it edc. I live in the PNW where winter means multiple layers so I can hide a bigger gun easily.
@LoadsofBacon6 жыл бұрын
I have all the stuff to set up an Alien Gear holster the same way for the S&W 69. If/when I ever get around to it I will definitely show that on video. I have an LCR and I really like it. I used to carry it before I got the Bulldog in an Alien Gear holster as well; (they do make a shell specifically for the LCR). I'm not exactly sure why, but I find the slightly larger Bulldog a tad more comfortable. These days the LCR usually gets used with a Focus paddle holster for quick trips to the mail box, taking the trash out, etc.

Hey bacon man! Cool video subject. Here in central Florida I don't change how I carry much. Even our "cold" days aren't usually bad enough for more than a sweat shirt. That being said. I'm with Elvis ammo... 147gr in colder months and 124s in warmer. In alien gear iwb. Great holsters.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I tend to change ammo instead of weapons. Glock 19 in summer and winter. 124's in the summer and 147's in the winter. 15+1. Ruger makes a nice revolver, but I'm still not sure why they decided to chamber it in Special instead of Magnum.
@onehalfmusketeer1206 жыл бұрын
@@LoadsofBacon i think it was because a lot of people started to get back into 44 special, not that it went away. the 357 frame may not have been upto taking full tilt 44 mags, but 44 spl+P it can. (+P being the 44 skeeter loads and keith loads etc)
@LoadsofBacon6 жыл бұрын
I suspect that the frame could take “standard” 44 Mags, but since it’s a Ruger, lots of folks will be trying out “Ruger only” loads that are above SAAMI specs, and that would be no bueno for Ruger. Just speculating. I have zero doubt that it will take a very hot Special load.
@onehalfmusketeer1206 жыл бұрын
@@LoadsofBacon i ran 255 kieth with 16gr of 2400. recoil happened, but nothing i would suspect is close to max. i suspect that the ruger can go up the power level into magnum world somewhere. however, given the 36oz weight, the recoil would make you think twice before the gun would.
@LoadsofBacon6 жыл бұрын
That's a fact. My 69 weighs ~35oz, and I've shot some magnums from it. Not the end of the world, but it'll wake you up in the morning. Same with Skeeter loads from my 19oz Charter Arms Bulldog.

Work Requires a suit . A tiny 380 with well chosen ammo and either a pocket carry holster or a self-made micro I WB holster is my usual . If I'm in the woods my 9 mm PT 99 AF in an alien gear AWB first-generation holster . It's really too big and I would like something in between something like a Smith & Wesson shield in 9 mm . Once I get one of those it will be my 80% of the time gun . Then the 380 would be the 20% and I can't get away with carrying that . Plastic is a lot nicer and both very hot and cold weather against your skin . or at least against my skin .

I have one of the very first Kel-Tec .380s (shown in the thumbnail) - I bought it as soon as they came out to replace the Kel-Tec .32 that I had. The 44 Special is way under powered for a hungry Polar Bear tanned and looking like a Grizzly Bear that crossed the border and went south for a warm tasty treat... Carry multiple 44 Magnums or larger handguns !!!! "Last week, Hansen told friends and family he was heading to the Kaibab Forest in his home state of Arizona. Despite warnings that bears in the area had wiped out all human life in a 300-mile radius, Hansen said he believed his enormous beard would protect him. When asked how that works, Tom responded he doesn’t know the science but it worked for Grizzly Adams, a fictional TV character. According to rangers who found pieces of Hansen strewn about Kaibab forest, he had written only two sentences when a bear found him in the cave, bit into the back of his neck and began shaking him wildly until he fell apart like a warm dinner roll. Body parts were found up to four miles from the kill site." www.bearmageddonnews.com/2018/12/10/writer-sought-solitude-in-cave-to-meet-deadline-met-bear-found-death-obituaries/
