Buy real ammo. That's all very weak ammo. Cowboy loads are not up to a full black powder load of 40 grains. These cowboy loads are only good for plinking not hunting

@ - I really couldn’t say. it’s pretty low. I have lots of other interesting options, and I’ve had FAR too little range time the last few years. I’m hoping to fix that in 2025, but the 92 has spent most of its time in the safe. (I can say that there’s been absolutely zero issues since I made this video.)

I read of a guy who killed a giant black bear in Oregon with the same basic load. Hit it 5 times I think. Bear kept coming after initially being knocked down. I think they said he was in the 600lb range. I was curious because the pistol used was a Taurus PT 1911, same one I owned at the time.

Bought all the same upgrades to include the USAF (black and blue) Lok Grips and a skeletonized hammer. The only problem I ran into was the magazine release button roll pin. Tried re-using the original roll pin and it bent trying to reinstall it. Ended up drilling button and mag release to 1/16 and installing a 1/16 roll pin. Now I'm just waiting for my Lok grips to get here. But great gun, came with new slide and barrel and frame had very minimal wear.

Always loved reading anything by Skeeter. I've been working on loads for my .44 Special GP100 3" and have gotten to a load with the Rim Rock 185 grain lead semi-wadcutter hollow-point over a low dose of Winchester 244 powder that's generating 936 average fps and 360 fpe with a standard deviation of 5.5 fps. The same load is clocking 1,042/440 out of my 7-1/2" Super Redhawk. I might bump it up some more, but it's feeling pretty plentiful as-is out of the GP100.

Nice design, I heard they’re actually a bit stronger than originally thought. The fact they’ve been chambered in 44 spl as well as 40S&W, 45 acp and 45 Colt reflects this as well as the notches Between the cylinders instead of on top of them. That’s not to suggest use hairy handloads.

If I continued to post casting videos they would delete my account. Just because I still have some videos up doesn't mean YT isn't extremely hostile towards the firearm enthusiast community.

I just bought the 45 colt version. I haven't shot it yet but man is the action gritty, the trigger like trying g to set a mousetrap, the DA trigger pull really stiff. I know I can't compare this gun to my anaconda but geez wish they refined the action a little. I may try disassembly, polish, and try to clip off a few spring coils. I dunno I'm not impressed with the mfg effort.

Feed dents on the casing, or even just buffing are common with many mag fed arms. If it changes the real accuracy, it must be pretty bad... I have had two 1911s that did this, a dent on the case which the pressure makes disappear when fired. leaving only a deformation on the bullet jacket.. I marked some ammo on the cases and the bullets with a tap punch, and loaded them into the magazine punch marks down. After shooting them, I found the case had actually been dented by the slide as it pushed the next round in the magazine downward while it fed the top round into the chamber. I beveled the bottom of the slide where it scoops the round from the magazine.. I saw on that gun there were no more dents or scrapes on the casings. it may have been caused by the sharp edge there, of even made worse by a stronger than needed magazine spring cased by the magazine spring pushing the next round hard against the slide. Overall case dents are so common in so many auto loaders.. I guess minimizing it is all you might be able to do.. I did this long, long ago when making a 45 a tack driver was a thing..lol Bowling Pins all day long at fifty feet... Accuracy is always my second concern, first being functionality. Hope this old farts words help you.. OH>> Be careful you don't remove material during the barrel smoothing. A few 10mms are blowing out of the bottom of the cases. So far I'm only noticing bulging on cases at the range on brass day... lol
