There were a grand total of 0 people playing full level speedruns for like 4 or 5 years back then. The speedrunning community was tiny back then to the point where competition wasn't even a thing on most games. I apologize for not being able to see the future where people make a full time living playing video games on the internet. /stanski

I meant that no one would beat the run because no one was playing this game and there was no competition, and I was a little disappointed to be honest because I was hoping for competition to push me further. I knew I could do better myself but there was no one back then doing full runs at all, the speedrunning community was tiny, I am pretty sure my runs never got more then a couple hundred downloads back then. -stanski

I find it hilarious that a common theme with Sonic runs, a game with a mascot known for being cocky, is people claiming their times couldn't possibly be bested. Edit: Wow! This comment blew up way more than intended these past 2 years. Out the gate I wanna say I love Sonic, his go-getter attitude is a great quality! My wording was a little off there. @@lightfeather9953 Unfortunately not. We'll have to wait on Salt to do an update. He's mentioned he'll remake videos at some point. I'm part of the classic Sonic speedrunning community though. It was mostly done with cleaner movement, better spin dashes, and level wraps that were known for years but considered too hard for a human to pull off, TAS-only stuff. There's almost no room for error anymore, getting closer and closer to like the original Mario.

After hearing the Battletoads music in this video. I'm curious as to whether there is an interesting world record progression to that game. I remember it was rated as the most challenging game of the year when it was released. My achievement was to beat it without warps and not dying, but I never timed it. Back in the 90's, I also managed to play 2 players by myself with a controller in each hand up to level 11.

I like speedrunning but there is a huge gap between watching a game being ran and actually understanding some of it - your videos help a lot in that aspect.
