This was very helpful. I'm one of the people who started mixing in Sumo for some deadlift variation. The transition from conventional is hard for me. My first tries were trial and error. This just turned that light bulb on a little better than Jeff Nippard's tutorial

Hey there! Awesome tutorial Serena and Co. It's been a long minute since Myra appeared in one of your videos. It was great having both her and Garrett assist you with expert input. You definitely should do more like this, as well as tutorials in general. You've got lots more to offer your community than you give yourself credit for. Egg nog?? Now I'm intrigued! Might just go buy one to try it out. BTW, egg nog (depending on brand) can come in cans, cartons or jugs so you were still right each time you changed your statement. 😂 Lol

Honestly I’m always scared to push myself on deadlifts since I’ve never had an ounce of training/teachings on them. I’m thinking I’m probably doing everything wrong and gonna throw my back out lol

So do 135 and record it.... You'll know
@MrLegatoblue2 жыл бұрын
@@urgamecshk yeah, I should probably record myself. I have a left shoulder impingement. So I have damaged myself in the past. Im doing 300 at 175 lbs for deadlift. Im scared of whenever I do it. Cause what if one day my back just pops lol then im fucked forever.

I don't mean to sound like a hater, but I never liked the sumo deadlift. It feels awkward and looks weird aesthetically. It's also very unintuitive and impractical as a movement. Who would realistically lift a weight that way? The wide stance doesn't even allow you to walk after lifting the weight. Normal deadlifts feel a lot more natural to me. Plus, for practical purposes, normal deadlifts are easier to teach, because they are less technical.
@noxteryn2 жыл бұрын
@Pamela Pamela First of all, the deadlift is a functional movement that is extremely beneficial for both health and everyday physical tasks. Second, gender is entirely irrelevant to the lift itself; everyone can and should learn to deadlift. Third, both men and women are free to lift as much they please, and it doesn't negate their gender identity in any way.
@JDog39432 жыл бұрын
Sumo is way more functional than conventional deadlifts in reality as you really never pick anything up outside your legs. Picking up a box, you normally put your feet besides the box and then reach down between your legs and pick it up.
@noxteryn2 жыл бұрын
@@JDog3943 That's because people usually squat their deadlifts in everyday life. The movement is still nothing like the sumo stance. Also, it's far more common to deadlift objects in everyday life than you think. For example, picking up groceries, one bag in each hand, is a deadlift.
@thomas94342 жыл бұрын
@Pamela Pamela your viewpoint is so outdated and sexist
