My high hopes for Mario Kart 9 1. Adding the Mario Kart Tour tracks that didn't get added to the BCP. 2. Add all of the tour alternate costumes, karts, and gliders as skins for the characters, karts and gliders. 3. Add every Mario Kart retro track. 4. Add a better online mode. 5. Adding all of the tour items. 6. Preventing Item spams.

It looks like we may be getting an open world racing setup like Forza Horizon. Maybe instead of 8 cups with 4 tracks each we get 8 open worlds with different biomes and multiple races in each that we activate. I think Mario Cart on the Switch with all its additional tracks was pretty much as far as they could go with the old setup.

I haven't played all of the Mario Kart games. I played a ton of Mario 64. Has there ever been a pit system in the game? If not, maybe a new gimmick would to make you decide when to pit, maybe to fix damage that you have taken throughout the race. Could be interesting if they haven't done it before but it would have to be quick and not disrupt the fun/pace of the game.

They should have a it where once you beat the game on 150cc you unlock a cross cup mode where each track will be randomly swapped between 2 tracks each race. For people who know the maps and it will tack advantage of the quick load times of the switch 2. 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️

With the added power of the Switch 2, I was hoping for a little more of a generational leap in graphics. Maybe this is running natively at 4k on a TV, which would not be too bad. I would still think they would take advantage of that built-in DLSS to render at a lower resolution and upscale to a 4k TV instead.

On a more personal note, I don't really like the new DK design, it feels like they took everything the movie version fucked up with (the eyes) and fucked them up even more. I have major concerns about 24 player lobbies in Mario Kart 9. - Mario Kart keeps going more and more heavily in terms of item frequency and increasing the RNG variance and getting more away from just the pure skill based driving. Think about it: If there are 24 players in a lobby and you have 5 sets of items per lap, you could have up to 120 items being used per lap. Obviously items are definitely a core part of the game, but this is potentially WAY too many. This is easily my biggest concern. - Players want to win or finish near the top of the leaderboard. I already thought the push from 8 to 12 players was enough, but doubling that to 24 now? So we are just gonna have players be forced to play out a race and try to finish 20th instead of 24th or something? Ehhhhhh what is the point in this? - Obviously this game will have a huge player base, but there will be slightly longer queue times with more people dropping out and needing to be added with online games. I just don't really see any benefit from doing this.

To be fair, I kind of expected the newer generation of Mario games to look more "cartoony" because of the previous Nintendo games, like Mario & Luigi Brothership, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the zelda remake (I am not too familiar with the Zelda games xD) and many more. It seemed like this is their current art style. Obviously, the new 3D Mario game will have the same idea, at least I am about 99% sure of that. And although I do like the previous art style from MK8D and Mario Oddessey, I think this MK9??? art style looks nice as well. Though if anyone dissagrees that is okay and also understandable. :)
