He suffers from "Sequel Syndrome" in that we got shocked by the vocal performance in 2018 and this time it's really just more of the same. Is it good? Absolutely, but it's something we've already seen and I think that gives it more of a "meh" quality.

After the first "boy" from the game in 2018 that cat was kind of out of the bag and he got all his props 4 years ago. Again, his performance seems excellent this time around as well, but once you've seen it then it doesn't "hit" the same like it did the first time.

@@gurjindersingh3843 Oh absolutely, if the question was "is the voice acting overall better in Ragnarok than GoW 2018" the answer would be a resounding "absolutely". And David Judge does put in a great Kratos performance, it's just his Kratos performance in 2018 was great too. Like I said, when your first effort is a 95% it's kind of hard to make that so much better that it's noticeable, you just kind of expect that excellence.

The evolution between the Splatoon games feels like the perfected version of what the CoD formula tries to do. They don't fundamentally change the game because people like what exists, but they do fix most of the larger problems people had with the previous title and then add a full suite of new content alongside it.

I always like how real you keep it in regards to this stuff. These nominations are always head scratchers in terms of consistency, and there’s always a darling or two that must have voting members pushing them hard behind the scenes. I swear Stray is only up there because it was a big deal on Twitter for a week. These awards lists are also always a good barometer for how much gaming journalism favors cinematic narrative over actual gameplay. They want to be the Oscars so bad, with an increasing focus on the “star power” of character performances, content creators, or e-sports stars year over year. All of this instead of highlighting actual gameplay. There’s no “best innovative mechanics” or “best level” kind of awards, y’know? That implies that they’d even bother showing the award in the first place, instead of it happening during a commercial break while they bombard you with promotions during the event.

On Destiny 2, although I won't blame anyone for never looking back after it's awful launch, it has essentially grown into the WoW of MMO lite looter shooters. Anthem, Division, etc all trying to copy its formula but never releasing with enough content and support to last. It doesn't get that much talk among the general gaming community, but it's gotten better and better almost every year with main expansions hitting the 300k concurrent range on steam alone. As far as a sequel goes, Bungie's basically said they don't have any plans for a Destiny 3. The only reason Destiny 2 exists in the first place is because of Activision previously forcing box releases rather than treating the game like an MMO as Bungie originally wanted.

The fact that (as you mentioned) Immortality has so many nominations but something like Dome Keeper doesn't is illustrative of this. The reason why TGA is prioritizing the indie games you see here is likely because the people nominating these games have connections to the developers of those games and the studios publishing those games (especially Devolver and Annapurna). It would explain why indie games that deserve to be there like Rogue Legacy 2 or Nobody Saves the World (or a lot of other great indie games) aren't nominated.

Plague Tale Requiem is being thrown under the bus in all these nominees reactions lol. I'm pretty sure APT is gonna win best performer because Charlotte McBurney (protagonist called Amicia) did an out of this world performance, like the rest of the nominees aint even close IMO. I think it should also win narrative because it really is the best narrative driven game out of all those games. The score is also unbelievably good and like Metal Hellsinger it is like a secondary character to the game. Best adventure and GOTY I'm not so sure because God of War and Elden Ring are better games overall.

I always love seeing youtubers continuously get confused and/or frustrated at how Destiny 2 continues to exist. Trust me, if it was going to die, it would've died already. A very specific process has occurred, in which it will go through cycle of being good and growing the fanbase, followed by a decline which whittles away those who aren't particularly invested in the game. This cycle, repeated over and over through the years, has polished the fanbase down into a solid, incredibly dedicated community that won't give up the game without something _incredibly_ terrible happening, and then staying that terrible for a long time.

This year was mehh for me, I can't even remember what games came out. The only thing I can think of was judgment 2(which is good, though I have grown fatigued of the RGG games somewhat, not being able to do all the crap to get to Amon.). Gran turismo 7, which was fun. Kamiwaza which is kinda a let-down. And Elden Ring was fun for what it was. I actually had to go out of my way to try older games, like the danganronpa, which was a good idea. And currently I am thinking about giving that new sonic game a shot. At least next year is gonna be jam packed with games, so that's fun.

On your point about Elden ring and people looking up stuff anyway, it’s still peoples choice to look stuff up. Ubisoft games tell straight out were to go. In Elden ring it leaves it up to the player to google or not. U don’t have to google stuff. Also the caves in Elden ring aren’t a huge piece of content, you can ignore them and focus on the actually good bosses in the legacy dungeons. That’s what I did for my last play through and it went wel! My goty is Elden ring in my totally not biased opinion! The vid was also awesome as always!

Best narrative in my opinion is xenoblade. I’m just a big fan of perpetual reincarnation. Best gameplay is close between Sifu, ragnarok, and Kirby and the forgotten land. But the size of ragnarok opens up that category for hitting the top spot And Elden ring is one of my favorite open world games since Skyrim

Everyone forgot about Dying Light 2 because, like Cyberpunk, the game is still broken. I reloaded the game last week, the first time in 7 months, and the game bluescreened my PC after browsing my inventory for 2 minutes. The grappling hook got me killed twice by simply not functioning at all. I wanted this game to be amazing but Techland rushed it. Go figure.

Because it has an impact in reality, it is a humanitarian and conscientious game of which part of the money of my purchase goes to help associations for real infortuned cats( this game saves real lives), it is unheard of, and for its atmosphere, And I think that the human IA who sacrifices himself for his animal is a strong message, This game is a wonder. I also think that this is an opportunity for Annapurna to be able to win a big title because he has deserved it since time and i want a Stray 2!

I would have voted Vampire Survivor for best indie - that's a TRUE indie game and he literally invented an entire new subgenre AND did it best on the first attempt as opposed to the flood of imitators that followed - it's literally Super Mario 64 level excellence. Such shit takes @Sunburned Albino, popularity/exposure ≠ quality and in many recent years the best games of the year have consistently been the ones to appeal to nicher audiences and integrate more unique elements to game design + narrative. (Eg): Rain World, Pathologic 2, Outer Wilds, Obra Dinn etc... Like cmon man, both Citizen Sleeper and Immortality feature such impressive themes/concepts/character writing that it is kinda lame just to dismiss them w/o playing them for yourself. Tl;dr play more games , get more exposure.

I do love looking in on the game awards just to confirm that the gaming media is still completely beholden to gaming companies, which is why you see head-scratching nominations that clearly happen because someone influential on the gaming awards committee is pushing it so hard, likely due to "monetary" incentives to do so. My GOTY is going to be Elden Ring but that's cause GoW:R ends up in the same situation as Bloodborne where I would be willing to play it but I'm not giving Sony $500-$600 dollars for an ugly brick to sit in my living room for a whopping two exclusives anyone will give a shit about while I have a perfectly lovely $2000 gaming PC sitting 6 feet away. I'm willing to spend my hard earned money for the toys I enjoy but there's a big gap between buying something that's at least a reasonable value and stupidly wasting money. Sadly it looks like GOW:R is going to win GOTY and at least from what I can tell it will at least be adequately deserved, though I never give companies a lot of credit for just taking their game from 2018 and making it better, seems like you started the race at the halfway point in that case. The game certainly looks good though I find the combat and animations during combat way too Jerky for me. Half the time it looks like a rhythm game where you don't watch your enemy you're just looking for colored circles that show blockable attacks, unblockables, parry opportunities, etc. I guess I still look at From Software as an underdog, their game had to succeed IN SPITE of a gaming press that clearly wanted to shit on it. From developers on twitter complaining about "user experience" and "quest design" to actual articles from morons at Polygon claiming Melania is an example of sexism cause......reasons? I'll agree that Elden Ring could have benefitted from some of type of indicator of where "points of interest" were but in From Software's defense they had never done an open world game before and the Dark Souls series didn't need any such system.
