I have white cabinets and black granite countertops. I hate the black countertops! You can’t tell if they are clean or dirty and it drives me crazy! The black cuts the kitchen in half and just doesn’t flow, imo. We will be getting new countertops next year; something lighter.

Yes bright white cabinets! We have a very large kitchen. We have black granite counter tops. We had the cabinets painted a bright white but stained the Island and one focal point cabinet upper and lower to match the wood floors. It’s stunning. Very classic ❤️

Good morning sunshine! Well sweetie here's my two cents. I had taupe colored cabinets and they were gorgeous. Now I know that's not the color you described, but in that color family. It darkened my home and kitchen so bad. So my suggestion is bright white as I just had mine painted bright white and I can't believe the difference. So my sweet friend, I would definitely say "WHITE!" By the way no pictures popped up on your screen, not that it matters as I can picture it 😂! The paint color is going to look different at different times of the day but if you must change it, at first I said beige when I saw the pics but if you're going for brighter I think white is the way to go. I love your cozy little guest room, you can add wheels to your desk chair. They sell them at Home Depot.

Have you thought about changing your living room for example your current shelf wall move to the wall where you tv is with the shiplap and move you tv on the current shelf wall and move your sofa facing the current shelf wall but keep your sofa more closer to the tv so your sofa table can be placed behind the sofa and you can still walk behind your sofa. Just a thought.

I love white cabinets. However, your kitchen is in good repair so I would encourage you to wait before you repaint. Sometimes we have to learn to be satisfied with what we have. You mentioned previously about doing your basement which would seem like a higher priority since your family would likely enjoy having that extra space. Btw you look great….very inspiring!!

If you want to paint the kitchen cabinets, bright white would definitely be the way to go. Going darker on the cabinets would make the kitchen look darker. If it were me, I would keep the cabinets white and paint the walls the accessible beige with white trim. But I also think the brighter white walls you want to go with would look great too! Your house is beautiful with whatever you choose! ❤

Love you beautiful home. The guest room is such a lovely place to offer your guests. I do have an idea to camafloge the wires to the TV. Look for shower rod covers. These covers come in different colors. They are made from a plastic material and have a slit so they can go over shower rod. I have used them to his wire that run along baseboards, computers and TVS. Y can also spray paint them to match deco. I hope you find this tip useful. Can't wait for the Xmas home tour. Enjoy your mom's visit. ❤

We have Accessible beige on our cabinets! We love it! We don’t have a lot of natural light in our kitchen either. A brighter white would be a good choice as well. Maybe you could paint your top in the accessible beige and live with that for while. That way you can see if you like it. Maybe just the island even. Good luck!

Suggestion for coffee table in front of a long sofa - put 3 or 4 (depending on the width) low square (glass) topped tables together that can be pulled apart for people at the far ends of the sofa when needed… I like BM Cloud White for kitchen cabinets in the same quality paint they use on boats… I am sure your students will miss you!

I love your new sofa. I wanted a white sofa. It would be a slip covered one. But one of my daughter’s talked me out of it. I live in Georgia. And my dogs are all over my furniture. I would go with a brighter white. And maybe a different color for the island. But it’s your house. So do what you want. I’m not a fan of beige. My old house was that all over. And it ended up turning kind of a pinkish color. I have black with a little white laminate countertops. When I notice the white in some spots I think it’s crumbs. I miss having a garbage disposal. The first time my oldest daughter came to eat here, she asked me which side the garbage disposal was. And I told her I don’t have one, dump her leftovers on her plate in the trash can. I cleaned my things from my fan on the microwave today after I did my dishes. I need to clean my oven before my company comes. It’s a mess. I can’t wait to see the video of how you started. I’ve thought about starting a channel. But I don’t have a very interesting life. I’m retired and live in the country. And you have a guest bedroom? Your house is so nice.

I think the taupe would make it look darker even with a whiter paint on the walls. I think the brick is lovely but it does darken the space. White is always good because you can change the decor so easily. I had white cabinets and dark grey/black counters at my old house and 17 years later it still looked in style. Beautiful sofa!!

Hi Tiffany. I would agree with the majority as far as going with bright white cabinets. However, just throwing this out there as an FYI, black granite countertops is what I have in my kitchen, and while I believe they look beautiful, they show every bit of dust, dirt, and hand prints. I’m a little OCD, so it drives me crazy trying to keep them clean, but if that doesn’t bother you, then they would be beautiful with bright white cabinets. No matter what, it will be beautiful

Regarding the kitchen: I think white cabinets and change out the brick backsplash for white square shiny tiles to grab any natural light streaming in and will reflect more light at night. If you can't change the brick backsplash, could you paint it white? White countertops. Since you like farmhouse and antiques, what if you change out the cabinet knobs with a black square/rectangle pull or find antique black cabinet pulls?

No pictures of inspiration but I’d paint the cabinets bright white since your goal is to brighten the space. I’ve painted a fresh coat of white on my cabinets using Sherwin Williams Emerald paint. Brushed & rolled it on. It self levels so no brush strokes and is durable if you want to save the $ and DIY it.

Tiffany I think there's probably a bedroom over the kitchen but have you looked into dropping in a sun tunnel or a skylight? A sun tunnel or two might do the trick for lighting. You could get an evaluation from a company that does it to see if it's feasible? Also I'd like to know where your white blinds come from. Are they faux wood, vinyl, or metal? Shopping for 2 inch blinds to fit our custom windows which are larger than standard. Not much success unless it's mini blinds. Loved watching you get the room ready for Nana.
