I think Ohio pretty much is leading the nation in that. I suppose that's why we've heard about all the hundreds of teachers there who've accidentally shot their beloved students, right! :-) Same old story; the "Looney Left" gun haters hate facts. They don't like to know about, or at least admit that they know about, all the many millions of permit holders carrying every day without incident. Some of them are so clueless that they probably don't even realize when they're eating in about any restaurant that probably 75% of the fellow eaters are sitting there armed. That would destroy their cherished narrative.

G'Mornin' Rev. Hickok! Thanks for another great gun sermon from that fine target-rich church of yours! I'm afraid I am guilty of the sin of coveting my neighbor's firearm. That is one beautiful Winchester you are brandishing. Aren't ticks the worst? I grew up in a very rural setting. We rarely ever got ticks, despite trudging through woods with rifles, playing games in the grass and eating many meals outside at a picnic table. When we did get ticks, they were the big brown type that were easy to see or at least feel on your body. Nowadays if I go for a short walk in the woods near my house I have to drown myself in repellent or I'll have five of the little demons on me, so tiny that I won't know until they've latched on.

Speaking of Motor bikes. When I was a kid we had a stolen moped that all the neighborhood kids would share and ride. The bad thing about everyone sharing is things start missing or become broken. Eventually the whiskey throttle was missing so as a 14 year old kid. I remember we use to take the throttle cable and wrap it around our hand to control the throttle. I had my first experience with the law of physics. Jumped a curb lost my balance but for some strange reason the bike kept going with me on it. Like a bull rider stuck to the rope. Looking back I was lucky my hand didn’t come off or crash badly into something. The things we do as kids back then. Hickok I really enjoy your content on Sunday mornings in this dang blue state I live in. Keep up the good work!

Maybe if kids got to live like that they wouldn't cause so many problems today. I mean what you did was reckless but you didn't hurt anyone. That's freedom, instead the government tells the young ones that they CAN'T do anything without basically jail time. They go as far as turning everyone on each other "see something, tell the authorities". Nobody can live anymore without someone sticking their nose into it. Talking about teachers being armed and people throwing a fit over it brings up a question I asked my employer when they called the police on me for bringing a gun to work and leaving it in my car. "If I have a right to defend myself and you have property rights that allow you to say I cant have guns on your property where do your rights begin and my rights end? Once I leave your property I have to go out into the world without a gun because you dont want me to have it on the property that I work at... 3rd shift btw so I show up to work at 10:30 at night. " To all those people who cry about teachers going crazy and shooting students and the people who were crying about shootouts in the movie theaters I have 2 things to say to you. First, anywhere where there isnt a "no guns allowed" sign there are people with guns around you. How many times have you seen someone in a shootout in your daily life? Unless you live in the south side of chicago or some other impoverished area you've probably never seen one. Lastly, since the creation of "gun free zones" like schools for instance 97% of all mass shootings happen.... in gun free zones. Its almost like the mass shooters are looking for places where they wont have to worry about being shot at while on their rampage. Maybe we should get rid of gun free zones instead of guns?

There is just a bigger issue deep down in the root of the children that act up that people are ignoring imo.

Recently, a friend was going through the local airport TSA with several vintage handgun stocks in his carry-on bag. He told the X-ray operator what they were, and the operator said that wasn't a problem. What made that a problem was a supervisor who stepped in. "No gun parts!", declared the old gargoyle. No amount of discussion would change her mind that old pieces of wood met the strict definition of "gun parts", even though she is allowed to use discretion in such cases. My buddy very nearly missed his flight when this stuff had to become checked baggage. Coincidentally, The Gargoyle's face could be shown next to the word "miserable" in the Funk & Wagnalls - who'da thunk it?

In a world where you can’t always control what happens, you need to control what you can. Arming teachers is the thing we can control, because you will never be able to control someone with ill-will. I think at the Principal level, it is their responsibility to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff. The Principal should carry a concealed firearm, and maybe even have a little more firepower like a shotgun in a well-locked cabinet. In conjunction with a school resource officer they are the first line of defense. As they roam the halls throughout the day. Selectively, and discreetly arming teachers is the next level of defense. Maybe it’s the History teacher down the hall, or the gym teacher. Those types of individuals are armed to protect the part of the school they’re in. But selective group, only known to the principal, the school resource officer, and other key staff. They could hold a wing of the school until Police arrive. People think schools should be like they were in 1950. Well they can’t. Airports aren’t like they were in 1950 since 9/11. Hardening defenses is key.

I agree with arming Teachers. My wife is a Teacher and works in a bad area. The school is on lockdown when something bad happens in the neighborhood. Not all teachers would be able to do that, my wife included. But I would feel safer if there were teachers who could and were close by. It seems the shooter lingers in the media forever and is continually brought up by the anti gun, second Amendment critics, yet law abiding citizens, and heroic actions of people like Elisjsha Dicken are briefly mentioned and forgotten. Bad guys will always find a way to get guns and don't care about what the law is. It's only the law abiding citizens these laws affect.
