Hendrix was a pioneer..Who knows what would have been his next level had he not passed @27.The same could be said about SRV,what was the next level ? Chris is amazing...No need to split hairs about who was more accomplished.Eveyone has his or her own taste.One thing remains the same all 3 play some of the best fucking music on the Planet......

Damn the beginning of the solo at 2:13 sounds like it was Hendrix himself playing!!! Most of the time when someone plays Hendrix it sounds like someone trying to sound like Hendrix. That beginning of the solo for around maybe 20 seconds sounds just like Hendrix was playing!!

Nowhere close to Hendrix ? I'd say pretty damn close . This guy is a monster . The only people that I can think off that can do anything like this are Trower, Kenny Wayne Shepperd , or Stevie Ray . And Stevie is long gone .

I am a huge fan of Chris and wasn`t implying that he tries to sound like Hendrix in my other comment. He evoked the spirit/true essence of Hendrix with the beginning of the solo imo is all i am sayin!!

And they say john mayer is this generations greatest guitarist?! No I don't think so. Chris is overlooked amongst a lot of other greats because they don't play pop songs. They've stuck with the blues-put him next to mayer and see who comes out on top it will be Chris.

@SRV32566 Number one as SRV stated in an interview once about Hendrix. Man, he was the innovator I'm just the imitator. Now on the remark that you didn't see Jimi doing Jazz? The reason Hendrix was becoming more and more distanced and angry at his lable is they refused to let him out of the realm THEY PUT HIM IN. Hendrix was very much into Jazz and wanted to record & display that part of his talent. Hendrix was exploring much more than what he was allowed. The reality is his Label killed him.

To me it sound like he´s doing dorian mixolydian with phrygian inversions only based on the secondary dominants of the relative majors diminshed augmented fourteenths,- in reverse of course.
