If you're originally actually allies with that clan and suddenly their new leader seems opposed to such things then you'll have a warning and chance to prepare anyway. Then you can withdraw your agreement to share the rocks. I don't see this as a valid reason to not share territory with riverclan if you're a leader with common sense. Besides, we all know starclan is against evil and power hungry leaders (as is the narrative of warrior cats in general.) They will end up failing in the end.

1:00 For what it’s worth, it’s actually been 65 years since the Clans were formed, based on some back of the napkin math. Present day as of Veil of Shadows is 2016 based on Into the Wild taking place in the same year it came out, Jayfeather time jumped 68 years from 2009 to 1941 based on a complicated guesstimation someone else did, then DotC takes place like ten years after that. It would have been interesting to see something similar to the legends be passed down by the DotC cats, but with some elements changed like the big cat groups not being named “Clans” so the implication is that oral storytelling eventually turned those into the stories we heard later on. But the Erins seem to have kind of forgotten that big cat legends were a thing, since it’s been a good while since they’ve been brought up.

The LionClan/TigerClan/LeopardClan stories have been retconned/explained as a sort of mythology that the Clans developed a good bit after moving to the forest. Of course, how the cats actually *know* about lions, tigers, and leopards…just don’t think about it. (If I were to theorize, probably StarClan? No idea if their omniscience extends to knowing about other feline species; the books seem to imply they just know about Clan-specific events except when other information is required for plot reasons.)

Okay good I'm not the only one who started having problems with the "Great Clans" after Dawn of the Clans was released. The only large cat in the books now was that mountain lion (Sharpclaw?
