I kind of like that Sandpaw changes her opinion on Fireheart even without him saving her life. He leads a charge into Shadowclan camp to rescue kits, drives out a dictator, and brings an entire clan back home. His accomplishments are undeniable and you can’t really try to belittle them (especially when the average warrior’s biggest life accomplishments probably involve bringing home a fat squirrel from the hunting patrol). It shows that Sandpaw can see Fireheart’s worth from how he treats others, not just from things he’s done for her specifically.

The whole bit with Sandpaw specifically I really like personally. I saw people say her coming around to liking Fireheart feels out of nowhere now but idk, I like it more that it feels like she chose to get to know him and warmed up to him and respecting him as a fellow clanmate due to maturing over the moons, rather than having a "oh maybe he's not so bad" realization just because he saved her during the battle

I know its not very related to the video, but if the novels/comics keep going until TNP i really hope the authors include a scene of Firestar, Cloudtail and maybe BrightHeart too saying their last goodbyes to Princess. Its always bugged me how they dont even mention Princess when the clans leave, or how they never think of her after that. A scene like this could be very cool and impactfull, even if quite sad. It could teach kids how to say Goodbye to someone they know (a very valuable thing to learm, especially early on in life).

1000000% agreed on appreciating more what they added than despairing over anything cut. The sheer amount of characterization and personality OOZING off the pages enraptured me in ways the series hasn’t since I was a kid. I understand why things had to be cut and imo it was more important to establish ITW with its world building than Fire & Ice. And GOD I hope they make more!!!

13:55 A lot of people are saying that Swiftpaw is one of Frostfur's kits in this adaptation, but I don't think that's true. Swiftkit is slightly larger than the other kits. In the scene where Firepaw is telling Princess about clan life, you can see a black and white kit sleeping next to a golden cat. Swiftkit and Goldenflower. Also, when the kits are returned, Frostfur rushes up to greet her kits, but Swiftpaw goes up to Goldenflower instead. I think he just got roped up with the other kits, and they said Frostfur's kits for convenience sake.

Reminds me of when I met Vicky over 10 years ago lol I randomly went onto the warriors website and saw a blog post for a book signing literally 10 minutes away from my local Barnes. Bunch of kids came, we got to meet and talk with Vicky, it was awesome, made a ton of friends, but not much to do there besides swarm her lol. I think it was for the release of the forgotten warrior, I remember kids fighting over who the title was referring to and that leafpool was on the front. To know that's still going on today and there's actual ACTIVITIES for them to do... It warms my heart to see it come so far. I actually cried when I saw the cardboard cutout for this graphic novel because I didn't know it existed until I saw it in Barnes. I wept like a child in front of the store, like I was sending a kid off to college. I am 26 and cried for at least 20 minutes over how nice it looked at that they actually put effort into giving them....personality.

I feel like people forget that they physically CANNOT show every little detail- that's not possible. Plus, the story is already overly complex and weird so it's just a mess and these two are also new to making this series. I think they did an amazing job and I think they deserve a lot more praise than what most are giving. The original books were confusing and weird and pacing was bad but at least the novel here is showing me something I can understand. I appreciate them for their effort.

Excellent video, it's always a pleasure to watch your content! I really prefer the Sandpaw from the graphic novel (for the moment): I like that she is sensitive, mature and thoughtful enough to reconsider Fireheart thanks to his daily actions, and not just because he saved her life . We see that Sandpaw begins to reconsider Fireheart on pages 207 and 220. We see that she feels guilty on page 233. There isn't a huge trigger like in the original novels, but I like that natural and progressive side. So I wouldn't say that Sandpaw's questioning comes out of nowhere (but that's just my opinion). Otherwise for the "continuity error" at 11:51 = I thought like you, but Ravenpaw mentions Oakheart on the page before this. So you could say that Graypaw was just trying to explain to Firepaw who Oakheart was.

I see a LOT of people complaining about Graystripe not killing Whiteclaw in the graphic novel, however I quite like this change. I like it because 1. Why in the world would Bluestar give a CLEARLY guilt ridden cat an apprentice especially when she already decided the mentors were going to be new warriors, and 2. If he killed Whiteclaw, Leopardfur would 100% tell the entirety of Riverclan which would make it confusing on why Silverstream *wouldn't* kick his furry butt after she learned his name (and no, warrior cats characters have been known to hold grudges for in-book years. Of course she would still remember that name).

oh man i WISH i knew the hardcover was gonna have such an awesome under jacket cover im so jealous i didnt think to get both versions lol some scattered thoughts i had after reading! the one detail i am actually sad they changed that i think would have still fit the new format was silverstream's banter after she saved him to just her laughing at him... 'can't you drown on your own territory' is such an iconic line to me! im tempted to just marker it in on that page lmao but overall yeah! i think doing a scenes focused approach to the story is really smart even if some stuff is a bit out of sequence or abridged it still gives you the feelings and most important part of the moment; personally would have liked a biiit more yellowfang pages bc firestar looking after her is much more prolonged than that cute little montage and it does cut the moment graypaw was forced to eat two mice bc he was trying to cover for firepaw so he wouldnt get in trouble which always stood out to me as a good scene that shows graypaw is a dedicated friend (though him drawing attention away from ravenpaw when tigerclaw is putting him down during training has a similar effect) I think the into the wild section of the novel is just about PERFECT amount of detail vs snappy, though i do have my concerns about fire and ice / forest of secrets. i think i especially have to commend the rat scene because HOLY shit they managed to make that just as scary as the original books the panel where they are dragging ravenpaw down the ledge goes CRAZY the abridged version of fireheart/graystripe's conflict over silverstream in fire and ice is a bit disappointing bc the drama of that was always so juicy to me but i also understand it didnt fit the tone the graphic novels were setting up; it would be a bit much to throw that in and expect the book to end on a high note of "yay im a warrior cat now :D" and not "well i was fist fighting my friend in the middle of camp but we made up and came to an uneasy understanding" I'd definitely recommend a fan read both versions bc the original fire and ice/forest of secrets definitely had a more anxiety inducing effect on fireheart with him juggling graystripes sneaking out and trying to mentor cinderpaw and his own meetings with princess and knowledge of tigerclaws treachery. as a big princess fan, i do enjoy her being introduced earlier and she is SO adorable in the graphic novel but it is a stark difference from the original because fireheart is grappling with his lack of family in the clan, feeling ostracized for his kittypet origins, and its been so long since he's seen her it really is a BIG moment when he finally meets her again. but i also think thats why it wouldnt work in the graphic novel since its a snappier more comedic pace and its overall Good that they changed it. and i know its been talked about to death but also disappointed by the gorge scene bc i do think its important for leopardstar, graystripe, and sandstorm's character but again i dont think it suited the vibes of the first book so much so i understand why it was cut short (which i why im assuming cinderpelt's accident will is being saved for volume 2) i am fine with them ditching mudfur's prophecy about a needless death though if theres anything warrior cats doesnt need more of its Even More starclan predetermination. just wish onewhisker and morningflower got a teeensy bit more spotlight, tallstar really is the only windclan cat with major speaking lines.

It's so bonkers getting recommendations for Warrior Cats now just because I watched on video about whether or not Ravenpaw was gay or not (yes, though I already knew this). I only read two books when I was in middle school, which were the very first one, and then the first book of the second series, which I mistakenly *thought* was the second book (oops) but now I'm getting insights and basically live news on what's going on with Warrior Cats (This video was posted only 5 hours ago! Wow!) I don't plan on reading any more Warriors or getting into it but it's so nice to just put on these videos while I work to get a peak into that world. It's also funny because the only reason I'm actually posting videos on youtube is because I animate for the Rain World fandom, which has a *lot* of Warriors animator alumni.

One can assume that Whiteclaw might not actually be dead yet. His death could be postponed and moved to a different part of the timeline, similar to how Swiftpaw’s death may have a different circumstance since he has been apprenticed alongside Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw instead of later.

What I'm guessing is that Whiteclaw's death is postponed, for now. We have no evidence that he's dead yet, from the pages I've seen. So they might wanna put it somewhere else! It could be that they want Graystripe to join Riverclan before Whiteclaw dies?

I pre-ordered the Novel and got it just in time. It was absolutely amazing! The artists did well on making all of the characters look well, and a lot of scenes had a comic vibe to them (Ex: The fight with Graypaw and Rusty). I was also able to attend the event the weekend afterword. Unfortunately, there was only one table that wasn't mine that was warriors fans, the rest were just families with their young kids that had little to no idea about the books (Which is fine, but I'd prefer if more fans showed up as well). Although a few details were missed, I think that's fine. Remember guys, adaptations aren't always able to be the exact same! For me, this book is a solid 9/10.

I'm so confused about the warrior's stance on the LGBTQ+ community. They have queer illustrators, while denying us anything canonically queer in the series. People will inevitably ban this book, and drop the series if they learn about this. Didn't Kate Carry state that warriors will never have queer characters because the series is published in countries that still criminalize the LGBTQ+ community. Will those same nations not ban this novel then for similar reasons?

I think a lot of people who have complaints about the new graphic novel are a bit blinded by their nostalgia for the first arc and what they remember it to be, and not actually what the books themselves contain. I LOVE the changes they made in the GN. The story feels more cohesive and the characters get significantly more development as people instead of them just existing to be plot points later on.

a thing that kind of bugs me about the few people i've seen annoyed that the artstyle it cartoony is that... if it were more realistic... its highly unlikely theyt would be *allowed* to show the fight scenes very much, given the target audiences age. especially tigerstars death. heck, i dont even know how theyre going to go about showing that one even wwith the cartoony style! i personally really love the *tone* of this graphic novel. it recognises the campiness of the story itself, but also takes its readers seriously and doesn't look down on them (*so* important for childrens literature!) i've been following nat and sara for *so* long, since space battle lunchtime (campy space lesbian murder cooking show) . i'll also add that people are upset about brightpaw swiftpaw might want to consider that the way that that litter (cinderpaw and brackenpaw are their littermates!) were split up kind of strangely in the original books. in fact, cinder and bracken are made apprentices before they turn 6 moons, making bluestar join in on brokenstars child warriors. the change was probably to have them all become apprentices at the same time, later, so that that can be avoided, given that this is a chance to correct things that could have been written better

@notfurry42595 ай бұрын
It could be because it’s something new and unique no one has done before with her character, and we don’t have many buff molly’s in the series so that could also be why. Personally I don’t mind buff Silverstream, but I do like the fact they made Leopardstar burly! I’ve always imagined her being bulky, and she was described to have wide shoulders. I can understand why others might not like buff Silvertsteam though. She was always known to be slender!
@letsplaynothing75835 ай бұрын
@@notfurry4259 Yeah I’m fine with Leopardfur. I’ve always imagined her being muscular, although I’ve never imagined her being molly, since it doesn’t really make sense for a wild cat to get that fat. But as I said: I can live with that. But Silverstream? She was explicitly described as slim (at least in the german books but I doubt it would be different in the originals) so why make her that molly? I guess it would make sense for Riverclan cats to be rather muscular in general, since they swim a lot and if you look at real world swimming, they all have a very muscular body. But not that molly.
@Grant-do9ce5 ай бұрын
i actually agree. Based on the book descriptions it seems like Thunderclan and shadowclan cats should be buff and big, while Riverclan and Windclan should be sleek and thin. The books for a long time now have described them this way. When Silverstream is first introduced the author herself focuses on appearance and describes her as a sleek and thin cat. I think people just want to see a female character who is stronger and bigger than a male one although in my opinion this doesn't stay true to the books.
