Sunroom on Master Addition

I built this sunroom addition on to my master bedroom. It's more of a time lapse than instructional, but it's a good overview that might give you some good ideas on finishes. Ask any questions and I'll try to answer quickly. Enjoy!

Very cool! Am curious why you chose to put it off the master bedroom as opposed to a more common room area so that more people could come in. Have you found it cumbersome to have it limited to that spot?

Thanks Leslie! People I know have asked me that question and we're so glad we did it off the master--my wife and I love having it as our own place of solace! It has turned our bedroom into a whole suite set apart from the rest of the house and kids. We love hanging out in there, but I suppose everyones situation and needs are different, for us it's been awesome. Thanks for watching. @@ModernArtisan We did the same, I plan to pull the treadmill and elliptical up from the basement, should be a more inviting space, and get more exercise during winter. You did a fantastic job! Yours was our inspiration!

Hi Marsha! This is always a tough question to answer, especially since this particular project was for myself so I didn’t really keep track of it all. I would bet at least $30k if you were hiring someone to build it for you.

@@ModernArtisan I can confirm this! I have one in progress now, and I'm at around $35k. Mine's a bit different , and has 12' glass slider on the gable leading to a 5' landing and full width composite steps. We started the idea as a small balcony, then a screened porch, it just got bigger and more complicated. I would recommend to spray 5" foam and use 2x6" construction, then you'll not need any additional HVAC for the enclosure. Mine is 12x14'.

Dont you need foundation underneath??

There is a foundation underneath. That is the concrete walls that were formed up at the very beginning. It's not a full basement, just crawlspace depth, so 48" walls plus 8" footing. Thanks for watching!
