Today we're tackling Sunshine Tidings Co-Op! Watch me get incredibly distracted by Professor Goodfeels and debate a rotating schedule of refreshments for town meetings.

I always use diner booths because they are one of the few furniture pieces they actually use, and they snap together for a clean build

My advice is to always build a bar. By which I mean a food vendor. Because it’s (I believe) the only buildable thing that settlers automatically gather around after work hours. So if you have a big settlement and build a bar, it’ll be PACKED around 9-10pm and it’s delightfully immersive

This is gonna expose my insanity, but the fact that that plate at 1:00:31 is named "Yellow-Trimmed Plate" has always bugged me, because it's just the clean version of the "Yellow Plate" that you also have there. There's also red versions of those plates, where the clean one is appropriately named "Clean Red Plate". And don't even get me started on MacCready's "wooden soldier toy" breaking down into ceramic...

Cattywampus is such a good word. Cattywampus. Cattywampus! Hah! I love the lion outside the cabin. It's exactly the kind of ridiculous, bizarre decoration you find in a happy, functional, wild community.

I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "Cattywampus" before, I love it! I also don't mind that you place things randomly off-kilter, it feels more realistic to me. Sure, in our lives we like things to be perfectly perpendicular and at right angles to stuff, but in a post-apocalypse? I really don't think they'd care about the placement of furniture and carpets that much, filing cabinets are heavy, man, they'd drop that where it is as soon as they possibly could!

I went back and redid 5 settlements after watching your videos, thinking about the why of my builds and the story they tell. I’m also claiming all the settlements under the minute men. I play on survival mode, so my challenge is I have to put an impenetrable wall around them, because attacks are brutal.

For Sunshine Tidings, I always love to make it a "sanctuary" for rouge robots and synths. They work closely with the railroad, but they tend to stay to themselves, however.

I'm still debating on what way I should go, big tidy fully buitl/repaired cities vs organic ones. But her videos are making me think I would go for the second option, feels more enjoyable to me for some reason. Maybe her vibe has a lot to do with it I guess...

The hand held oil lamps with the glass flute sit really nice on the windowsills of the old houses. It's nice because they can't sit on anything other than the floor for some reason.

Never played fallout before 2023 and didnt know anything about it other than *shooter game in a post apocalypse setting*. Watched a video of someone playing on KZbin and one of your settlement builds was in my recommendations. Love love love your builds, the cozy lived in feeling and the fact that you dont use mods or glitches. I am bad a video games and can't get them to work for me. I usually keep trees in place along with various other non-wrecked scrap I otherwise can't move or place, trees being the main one for me; sort of as decor, only scrapping them if I need that space. But I can see how Sunshine Tidings might work easier as a sort of meadow

@@IfThenCreate you’ll probably stumble into it before he gives it as a quest haha. I loved the little shack you built around the control tower thing at Oberland. I’ve always just built around the perimeter using mostly boxcars and left the tower by itself. Love your designs!!

One sad thing about Professor Goodfeels is that in a vanilla setup, he has the tendency to disappear. There are ways to bring him back with console commands as he is just in a disabled state. I have a mod installed to prevent this all together.

Have you considered collecting the Creation Club items. Everything in the WORLD category has something to do with settlements, objects, and player homes.... the collection of stuff is really nice. Also, have you considered building in smaller settlements like Hangman's Alley or Coastal Cottage for a real building challenge? What about mods to expand the build limit or place anywhere. What are your thoughts on that? Just wondering because I just completed Hangman's Alley and made it an efficient player house in survival for 20 settlers and I'm quite proud of it. I wish that I could show up by sharing the save file but I may have to settle with a video or something. Anyway, I want to show you what I've done too

Do you have the trade caravan post? I thought that would be perfect by the general store. You get it from the quest that opens Bunker Hill as a settlement.

I believe having Robots in settlements negatively affects happiness, but I think that's mostly from Automatron.

You’re right, robots are capped at 50 happiness which brings down the overall average. I don’t think Professor Goodfeels counts as a settler though!

How do you get access to all of these extra things like traps and security desks? Do they come with higher levels or do you unlock them some other way?

Security desks are from vault 88 dlc

DLCs! I think the traps are from Wasteland Workshop, and the security desks are Vault-Tec Workshop

Sadly, professor Goodfeels leave the settlement in the moment you go away, there's no way to keep him in the area. I programmed him as a security guard, he even changed his dialogue, but gone.
