Just discovered your channel and love it! I would like to try tulips on my acreage on a small scale for sharing and maybe selling a few bouquets at a local market. Was thinking some of the mixed bulbs from Leo Burbee might be a good choice for a beginner. Do you have an opinion on the bundles of mixed colors? Thanks so much!

This is my first year flower farming and next spring will be my first time growing tulips on a large scale. What would you recommend I shoot for in terms of the number of bulbs I should put in. I have plenty of space so that's not the issue.

That really depends on how you plan to sell them. I would over plant - not all bulbs will sprout. Then figure out how you are going to sell them - how many bouquets you want to sell, if you plan to reach out to florists to sell wholesale......sorry that probably doesn't help much but you don't want to end up with way too many, or too few! :) I planted around 5,000 this year and since I had multiple florists that were interested, I am planting more next year.

I may have missed it, but how many tulips total did you order for 2024? How many did you grow this year?

I grew about 3500 this year. Next year closer to 5500 I think
