Bill Walsh was/is one of the smartest coaches of all time. Not only creating the offensive juggernaut with a well balanced pass and run attack, but he seemed to be outstanding at finding and exploiting opponents weaknesses. Leading up to SB19 Marino seemed simply unstoppable. Record breaking #’s in ‘84 he was the HOTTEST QB in the league. Great receivers in Duper and Clayton. But surprisingly Miami had no real ground game. They were a lopsided, pass heavy attack. Walsh and the 49ers constructed and executed a solid game plan on both sides of the ball. SF shut Miami’s potent offense down. Sacked Marino 4 times in the 2nd half and picked him off 2x. Disrupted his rhythm and hurried him multiple times. I was only 12-13 at the time but I recall expecting SF to win a close one like 28-24.... 38-16 was actually quite a spankin and honestly it wasn’t even that close really.

My biggest problem with the narration was "Montana may not have been in Marino's class ..." Uhhh no no no. It's Marino may not be in Montana's class. Montana will always be better even if he doesn't have the most career TDs and such.

The game will NEVER be like this again... as a Raiders fan... the 84 Niners were on a mission... they would not be denied. Hard to believe this is the last appearance of the Dolphins in a SB to date.

Yeah this was truly a historically great team there hasn't been one since maybe the 99 Rams and even that was debatable The cowboys of the '90s were definitely a historically great team but back then these were great teams them Patriot teams are a joke that one of those super bowls winning them all by field goals they weren't dominating teams none of them were The last team I remember the dominated pretty thoroughly was that '99 Rams team but even they almost lost the super bowl this was an era of greatness

@@BruceWayne-ri4wr agree the Pats were “orchestrated” greatness and they’re not a dynasty barely winning their contests… the game is so different and it’s sad … it’s for entertainment and not competition anymore

@@TalkMyShiit yeah Tom Brady would have trouble even being a decent quarterback if he had to play under these rules in this era with how hard the defense is were allowed to hit you no way he wouldn't be able to fit the ball into the tight windows you had to back then All he does was throw dinks and dunks down the field he wouldn't have been able to do that back then under those old rules The Patriots and he himself the most overrated thing ever those niner teams from back then would decimate the Patriots they would beat the Patriots by four or five touchdowns

The window close the very next year when the Dolphins lost the Patriots in the AFC Championship. The Dolphins had beaten the Pats in 19 straight games at the Orange Bowl and the Dolphins crapped the bed. It rained that game so the Dolphins couldn't pass and the Dolphins had all those turnovers. Once the Pats could ran, it was over. After that Marino really never had a second chance chance even though they had the Bills at home in the 92 AFC Championship. The Bills were a better am.

Dan made the coach look much better than he was.

Marino was so red hot, you thought superbowls would be a yearly thing for him. He would be back there in no time. After playing 15 more years, he never went back. That is the most tragic story in NFL history.

Timing is super important and the SF49ers were awesome at the right time! They won SB16 and SB19 while California's John Wayne was President! (And their older brothers, the Raiders, won SB15 and SB18! The nation's capitol saw their Redskins win SB17!) Nobody, except God, can script or arrange that! Those were very special moments in American sports history! The President made the traditional coin toss to start SB19 on live television, from the White House! Indelible sports moments!
