Love this series. One of my favorite parts about commander is finding those hidden gems that are super cheap.
@RaventhornSpiritsong7 жыл бұрын
The wonderful thing about these types of videos is that for beginners it gives them ideas to expand on, and for more experienced players it reminds them of things they may habe forgotten, or not even noticed in the first place. Redundancy is important in singleton, which is why i hope to win one of the bundles. Even if you're fortunate enough to have the expensive versions, if it's a key effect extra copies are always a plus. Great video.

Italian guy, here. I wanted to say thanks for your insight. Mostly because, as a student, I don't have the funds for a game as expensive as magic can be sometimes, and these super budget cards are indeed a blessing. You're making me want to go back to older sets and try to find some "hidden treasures" now

Grim Haruspex has a different effect from Harvester of Souls. Harvester is when any non-token creature dies; opponent's included. Haruspex is only when yours die.
@JumboCommander7 жыл бұрын
Good call. It is better effect for sure and it's also budget. Think it's worth the extra mana?
@insomniackitty93977 жыл бұрын
definitely harvester, works better with board wipes, it's good with savra and merciless executioner effects and i've always found that there are so many tokens in a sac your board deck so you dont even get that much value off of it, i only like haruspex in meren or karador when the idea is to play value creatures to sac and reanimate
@xBenjiSx7 жыл бұрын
Also, Haruspex forces you to draw and Harvester just lets you ("you may") which also MAY come in handy in some situations :)
@Doofindork7 жыл бұрын
In commander however, Harvester of souls is more of a target, because no person on the board wants you to have that demon with a good effect, decent sized body, and deathtouch, on the field. Haruspex on the other hand, is so cheap and tiny that the enemies have to put their thinking-caps on and ask themselves: "Is it worth the effort to remove that creature?"

Omnath is a good voltron. Add staples like mana ramp and creatures that care about lands in play. Omnath works well with doubling cube which i think dropped in price since i last saw as a budget option.

I love how good it is in commander ... but like that's it. Nothing in any other format. Even in limited it was MEH because a 2/2 is a real downside but for commander. Forget about it. Also! Secret tech, they mystical tutor then you kill a creature and manifest the spell they set up :D

I'm kinda new to magic as a whole and this friend of mine, who introduced me to magic, is a fervent commander player. I immediately fell in love too with this format. I like its variety and its complexity since you can't rely on those few key cards every game (of which you run a full set) but have to build your deck to have each card be of great impact! Starting with the freyalise commander preconstructed i'd like to make an aggro elf tribal and evolving it later with some time and (more than some) money into a more hidden combo infinte mana deck. Like how you try to make commander affordable to anyone interested!
@taylorlarson5937 жыл бұрын
Only part of the budget volume I've seen so far. Great selection. I've been playing edh/commander since 2008 (before "commander" came out). These cards are very viable and would have been greatly appreciated back then in a couple different decks

Great video. I knew almost all of these cards but I think we all forget them way too fast due to netdecking and research. I think the most memorable games, when I feel like I "won" is not necessarily when I win, but after I pulled some really strange stuff with cards noone ever actually saw played or even heard about. And these are the cards that normally are not strong, but cause distraction at the table, like when yu suddenly through in a monarch emblem. Thank you for mentioning the will of the council mechanic. It is fully overlooked for its potential, because most of the opponents do not even feel it being that strong, even when they are destroyed by it. Most importantly, however, they do not feel like it was you destroying them =D Hey Jumbo, when will you make a video for such overlooked, but awesome cards, that make you opponents hate each other? Just wanted to say this was a great video expressing some solid and cheap means to obtain what most want to get out of Commander--fun, surprising games that everyone can enjoy! I'm Making a Scarab God budget deck for a close friend who doesn't really have the time or cash to devote to serious deckbuilding--she will love a pretty and powerful card like the Bident! Also, I'm now strongly considering replacing a Harvester of Souls with Grim Haruspex in a jank-filled Exava reanimator deck I run--in general fit the small, belligerent R/B creature theme much better. Well done, subbed!
