The black membrane of the stomach is an adaptation of deep-sea fish that allows them to eat bioluminescent prey without allowing their light to shine through, which is good for avoiding predators.
DeepL translate: "Since many deep-sea fish are glowing creatures, there is a theory that their peritoneum is black to prevent light from leaking from their abdomen and becoming a target when they feed on such glowing creatures."

Redfish fun facts: They're part of scorpionfish family that also include scorpionfish, stonefish, and lionfish. all are surprisingly delicious despite their scary appearance. Also, these guys are long-lived. 205 years is achievable... as long as they're not getting caught.

or eaten by other bigger predator. but yeah, most of the "scary/ugly" ones are surprisingly delicious. like octopus (they are seen as sea monster back in the days).

I wish Masaru could do like a rating for the fish/food he tastes. He can maybe do a score of 5 or 10 points and explain why he gave that rating. This could be informative, especially for fish/food that are not commonly eaten by the general public. As always, the videos have been very entertaining; keep it up.

Agree! A point system would be cool. Maybe have a god level. This channel is the best. He's not trying to show off, he's genuinely curious and having fun. He does his own fishing too. I respect that.

I would normally pan fry the fish bones first before making soup with it, it creates a white creamy texture which is worth a try. But your dish looks great too! Keep up the good work!

What an interesting choice for a broth, tomato and clams sounds great, I wouldnt ever expect to see anything like that here in the west, but that looks incredible! I dont like cooked fish very much, but I would love to try this fish sashimi.

I'm not sure if I understood your comment correctly (and if I didn't I'm sorry lol) but acqua pazza is actually an italian dish, and lots of italian seafood dishes involve the combination of seafood and tomatoes! So yeah, you can definitely find it in the west lol

迅速に浮上するダイバーへ deep-sea, pressure is very high and fishes there involved to sustain. If the fish are brought to the surface too quickly, then the pressure cannot adjust fast enough and they literally explode as they are brought up , the black stuff is the fish blood that as expanded due to the pressure, its a bit like what would happen to divers that surface to quick

The name of the fish is Red Vermillion. They sell for $15.00 or more a pound in the USA. It is great steamed with Green onions, ginger, cilantro and soy sauce. Hubby goes fishing alot!!
@Barbarian752 жыл бұрын
Love red fish. Lots being caught in cold water of Barents and Norwegian seas. Love baking it with potato. Baking is better than filleting - base of fins have 'pockets' of fatty deposits that a lost when filleting. Main flash can be quite dry. It is also good cold smoked. Nasty bones in the back fin - easy to infection if puncture skin on a hand. Japanese customers buy a lot of it frozen from that region.
