When Bill saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2, he just had to have one of Star-Lord's blaster. So, he bought a cheap toy gun and repainted it to look like it came right out of the movie.

I love seeing people mod these toy guns. If you think about it, a team of licensed artist had already worked hard to get the toy as close as they could. So finishing what they started just makes things a lot easier.

Nice job, my only suggestion would be to cut the vents and paint the inside of the prop before you glue the halves together to avoid orange plastic being visible.

I love the heat stressed/charred metal effect. Sadly, I don't airbrush, but I have had good success hand painting with the Tamiya clear paints. I'm so backed up on projects it'll be a while before I get back to my Star-Lord stuff. Though I have already reserved a section for his helm, blasters, and radar unit.

you can use vinyl wrap for stuff like the handle too. has the benefit of being very pliable when heated up with a heat gun or a hair dryer as you're working.

with the heat gun it becomes like 10x as much pliable, but if you want it to look glossy, you should look for 4d or 5d carbon fiber wrap, you used 3d carbon wrap wich is flat, but the 4d or 5d version looks exacly the same as real carbon

He Bill just a tip for the future: Vinyl adhesives can be a pain. What we do at work is use a mixture of soap and water and cover the area we are appliying to. Then place down your vinyl and use a squeegee to pull out the moisture. You can also use a hair dryer to soften the vinyl to help it fall into difficult places.

I like your clear and calm voice explaining every step. Just watched your Firefly video and noticed that you switched from the red to the green Spot putty. Quick questions though: Whats the different uses of Spotputty and Bodyfiller?
@punishedprops
@punishedprops 6 жыл бұрын
Spot putty is only good for very small fixes because it is air drying. Most body fillers are canalized, so they can be used on much larger fixes.

I'm actually planning on converting two of these, but there's that piece of plastic that sticks out at the bottom of the grip and is on the wrong side for a left handed gun. Do you think a 3D printed replacement part or one shaped out of friendly plastic would be better?

hey there i have a question, the palm protector part on the grip is there a easy way to remove that and put it on the other side for the left hand cause im making two of these guns since StarLord has two and would look great together having both left and right pistols

I didn't try that, so I have no idea. Good luck!

did you leave the gun hanging when it dried with primer or did you place it down ? and does it dry faster in heat or cold?
@punishedprops
@punishedprops 7 жыл бұрын
I usually leave it hanging. It will dry faster if it's in a warmer area.
