Donkey Kong wasn't gonna be the secret fighter at first. At first it was meant to be peach, AKA princess peach of the mushroom kingdom, but the idea was scraped because Miyamoto couldn't bear the thought of a woman getting punched in the face, which is understandable, but still it would've been interesting to see what kind of nice set she would've had. Hope Miyamoto reconsiders the idea in a future punch-out.
