If you have this game, you would literally and fully understand that this is actually part of the DOA 5 ultimate gameplay experience. Every long now and then if I play and check, there is so much more random free DLC, and it all takes forever to go find and get them that I cant even get through half of them, and they don't have the free ones in free bundles. (PS4) (I do this when a friend is over and we decide to play it. I do not recommend this franchise unless you are already a fan or like fan service based DLC games).

The English voices aren't bad at all in this, for the most part. I'm especially impressed that the guy who did Jann Lee _actually_ goes for the freakin' Bruce Lee screams, and I liked Momiji, too. The English dub scene can be a little stale now and then -- looking at you, Yuri Lowenthal -- but at least they're not full-on embarrassing anymore... unless it's a Final Fantasy game, anyway.

KT always has a bajillion costume packs for like.. everything. Most of their non-costume DLC is actually of some substance, I'd still say the pricing is a bit on the outrageous side. I'd drop $1 on a costume pack without much thought, but these things that are $2-5 a piece, for one costume, or a $25 pack.. yeah.. that's not gonna grab my impulse buy.

I'd actually disagree. These are REAL DLC and not on-disc crap. Also $2 apiece isn't bad. I mean it's not like you HAVE to buy them! For me I just grab the Lisa costumes because I love me some Lisa. Also, since the VF characters did get Counters and Power Blows and Tag Throws, I'd say it's less Mugen and more Fighter's Megamix here...which I would NOT be opposed to Tecmo doing (team up with SEGA, use the DOA5 engine, add all the VF and Fighting Vipers characters, Rent-A-Hero, Jane, a few Sonic characters, and the Daytona USA car).

GELTONZ You don't have to buy any DLC in any game actually. And what if it is or not disc locked? There's definetely something wrong when the price of all DLC is so much higher than the base game.

That's just because they keep releasing it on a near monthly basis. I mean at that rate you're gonna pass your game's price eventually. That and the game has dropped in price like a rock. You can get a disc for around $20. Also there's the Free To Play version on PS3 (which is actually handled WELL unlike Tekken Revolution and Soul Calibur Moneyswordfuck). I mean to be completely honest, DOA5 seems to have flopped pretty hard, but rakes in cash through DLC. I really can't blame them. Then again I AM the sucker that buys their DLC and LIKES it. I mean...this feels like the RIGHT way to handle DLC. As for disc locking? It matters because when the content is disc locked it's already done and you just have to pay to unlock it. It also usually means the game lacks the necessary "hooks" to expand beyond that. When it isn't disc-locked it means they're stil working on it, making more, and can potentially expand indefinitely. Team Ninja seems to just have some side studio that does nothing but make virtual clothing for DOA5U. This also means they can do things like hold Design a Costume contests and make costumes other people come up with as DLC (they did this twice recently...I think they're out of ideas XD).

You can unlock things in the game. For example, you can change the voice of the announcer to any of the characters, but you have to unlock their voice for it first. There's also a "special" option regarding the breasts that has to be unlocked ingame. It's just that the amount of costumes that is DLC is triple the amount of unlockable costumes(each girl has 10 that can be unlocked, and everyone has WAY too many DLC costumes).

Actually there was a time skip DOA5 takes place 2 years after all the others (contrary to what they say). This causes some amusing hiccups: #1) This means DOA1,2,3,Xtreme,4,and Xtreme 2 all take place in the SAME YEAR. #2) They didn't update Hitomi's occupation initially, making her a 20 year old Highschool Student! XD #3) This DOES mean Kasumi and Ayane were YOUNGER than Marie Rose when they were first introduced (16, because that's the general age of consent in Japan)

For me, as long as that profit went straight to their others IP, can't really complain tbh. It gets games developed, most of which are very popular. Well we can't change what the team stands for. In terms of the aesthetic they clearly are all about that "nonsense" and they know it is not meant to be taken seriously. Have you heard about their tweet? Apparently bunch of players and critics complained and pressured them to get rid of it but the guy on twitter basically said "fuck you guys and your preference, we know our fan base" And who can blame them for saying that? Sure the DLCs are bullshit and that's clearly for the money, but we can't really deny their artist integrity. Let me put you into a perspective: Many Japanese can't take gory stuffs. They think they are gross and can't understand why people from the West would laugh at such over the top gore fest. Because of this a lot of games got censored to the point where certain parts of their game features have changed. Like Fallout for instance, they removed the Nuke related stuffs entirely along with dismemberment system. I'm not a fan of DoA so think whatever you want about the current state of the game, but take the other group of audience into consideration and think what they would feel when censoring like this happened to their game.
