Awesome that you are sharing all of this. There is nothing like jumping into a large project and just doing it. Most people don't fix things anymore. This is the first video I have seen of yours, but I'm going to go back to the start of the project as I also have a 2020 2.3 ecoboost perf car. Awesome job, keep it going.

I'm still watching your videos, started from newest to oldest! Curious, did you check your old motor for "head lift"? Sometimes, when a motor suffers from pre-ignition, the head will lift, causing your cylinders to fill with coolant. If you inspect your cylinder head, you may find evidence (circles/indentions) where the head bolts hold the cylinder head to the engine block!?? Looking forward to more of your videos!!

I just started watching your videos! I need to work my way back to the beginning of your adventure!! But can you let me know what happened to your 2020 Ecoboost Motor? I thought the 2020+ motors had the new 2nd generation connecting rods??

I honestly don't know what happened. The teardown videos show evidence of coolant intrusion and possible detonation. The rods never broke, only bent. The piston in cylinder 3 shattered in a spectacular fashion. My original theory is the piston cracked trying to compress coolant that suddenly found it's way into the combustion chamber. Also to clarify, this was the HPP ecoboost with with Focus RS version of the 2.3L. It's still a mystery to many, but I hope to alleviate most of the factory shortcomings with this rebuild. I appreciate your support! 🙂

It started from being nervous about torqing the head 😅
