Game 2 features some crazy prep by both eric and unicornz
@nephandi2316
@nephandi2316 2 ай бұрын
I found the long endgame down an exchange for a pawn even more interesting than the prep, this material inbalance often gives silent and slow improvement until suddently one player is better, and this game definitely delivers

@@nephandi2316 I really loved the clinical way Eric shut the opponents rooks and bishop out of the game.

55:53 Pretty smart not to take the draw ;) Even if you would have got points for the tournament it would not have mattered because u re not top3. But u did get a +8 for the win to improve your rating ;) well done Eric ;))

Loved game 2! I was certain that was headed for a draw, but great positional play be Eric converted it to a win: lock down the opponent's pieces, then gradually improve the position of your own pieces until your opponent gives you an opening. Well done! I couldn't believe Eric ignored the draw offer on move 35 in game 3. His opponent had a winning advantage. Eric managed to eke out a win on time.

@@DrRodox. Black can simply play Rad8 after f4. They take control of the open file, your bishop stares into nothing and your knight has no mobility. You're much worse in that position.

In the first game, 5. g4 is interesting in that line of The Modern and I was surprised to see that it is only the NINTH most popular move! After 5... Nf6; 6. h3, if black plays 6... b5 as in the game, then 7. e5 looks good. If black goes 6... h5, then 7. g5 Nfd7; 8. Bg2 looks good.

In the last game, playing h6 during the opening would have prevented his knight from occupying g4.

Duck Chess is the best variant. It adds flavor to the game without taking too much of the chess out of chess. I wouldn't say it's fallen out of popularity. At least I certainly hope not.... ...Quack
