Super Mario Bros. Warpless Speedrun in

The double 54 in Any% and Warpless has been achieved!!! This run is very special not only because it's a new second barrier, but it marks the start of a new era of Warpless. This is because this run TAS ties all castle levels in worlds 1 through 7, meaning the only improvement from here is by adding in more FPGs or FFPGs! The routing to get all castle levels to line up perfectly for perfect bowser kills and other RNG was quite brutal, hence the massive title screen delay of 24.59 seconds, but I knew I had to do it in order to achieve this time. I suppose 18:53 is the next stop for this category, as all I'd need to do to save a second over this run is to add 1-2 and 3-3 FPGs. However, doing this would throw off the earlier castle level patterns, and unfortunately that would give a bad 2-4 bowser framerule for this route. So, although an alternative route would likely have to be used, I will be sure to look into this in hopes of eventually making 18:53 a reality!

en realidad no sacrifica tiempo, lo que hace es una estrategia para que al vencer a los bowser de cada nivel no hay un tiempo de caida del puente que hacen perder tiempo, en cambio si aniquilas al bowser de cada -4 , no hay necesidad de que el puente se rompa, asi ahorra tiempo, mas que sacrificar es estrategia y parte del speedrun. te aseguro que si no agarra esos powerups imposible hacer el wr, perderia mucho en cada final de cada nivel

I like warpless speedruns way more then any%. I played a lot of SMB Deluxe on my GameBoy Color as a kid, so I've spent a lot of time exploring every level looking for the red coins and Yoshi eggs. Not all levels are very memorable, but I love that they're all shown.

The total time for this WR is interesting. It is only 60 frames faster than the old Warpless TAS from the end of 2004, which clocked in at 18;55.862. 60 frames is just shy of the frame rate (60.0988 fps), so it's 1 frame shy of being "a full second" faster than the old TAS. Next WR will be able to boast "a full second better" than the old TAS. Lol.

i do a trick in water section there called "crouch swimming" where i land on the ground briefly while holding down. the game thinks mario is airborne, and mario doesn't have a "crouching while swimming" sprite, so as long as the firebars don't touch the bottom of mario, the top half of him can easily pass through the firebars since it doesn't have a hitbox. i am able to kill some of the bowsers in 3-4 fireballs because bowser has 2 hitboxes, and by shooting the fireball very specifically into both hitboxes, it causes double damage.

Where are possible places for FPG's and FFPG's in waprless speedruns? (And yes, the BBG, too, is actually a FFPG.) What does depend on whether you get lag frame or not? "No lag, again..." On some occasions you got lag frame while doing BBG.

you can FPG in every level and FFPG in only some levels. the most viable FFPG at the moment is most likely 2-1 because it saves the most amount of time and also is the earliest in the run. lagframe on BBG is controllable by having a specific score range.

at the beginning of the level, i buffer a jump at the start in order to get a more favorable bowser direction / hammer pattern. whenever you buffer a jump at the start of a level with fire mario, he will "skate" like that for a few seconds before his sprite corrects

you get 5000 from grabbing the top of the flagpole, but in some levels where the framerule is more lenient and doesn't require you to grab the top of the flagpole, i grab the bottom for fun
