The original Super Mario Party also had side modes like this one does, however in that game it felt like the time spent making side modes took away from how much time was given to the main core Mario Party experience. Here both the core experience and the side stuff seem way more in-depth and thought out.

Heeey!!!!! They are adding Pro Rules as an option for Party Mode! It changes the rules to emphasize strategy over luck. For example, the bonus stars are announced at the very start of the game, so you can make strategies to get the bonus star!

@@mr.cheesytoad5845 You can also steal them by passing the player with the ally. They don't seem to help out in minigames. They double your actions so if you get to the star you can buy two, if you shop you can buy two items, if you land on Bowser you do two rolls. Also you have to win the ally in a free for all minigame, so you're not guaranteed it unless everyone else is just really bad at minigames.

I would be disappointed if the explanation for imposter bowser isn't bowser wanted to participate in the actual boards, but also still wanted to be the main nuisance causing problems, so they had kamek clone them so they could do both. Not majorly disappointed mind, but it will feel like a missed opportunity.

From what I've seen from other videos. They only last 3 turns and you can only get one buddy. They are essentially double jeopardy. Everything is x2, even Bowser spaces. I also heard that your buddies can be taken from you as well.

I think a separate bowser kaboom eshop game wouldn’t do nearly as well as a big Mario party package. The latter will sell 10-20 million. An eshop game wouldn’t die faster than Kirby’s buffet game. I’m just glad Nintendo is finally figuring out online games.

Some stuff that wasn´t mentioned in the Overview trailer/Arlo didn´t mention: - Every Jamboree Buddy has a unique minigame themed solely around them. Mario has a compilation of old Mario Party minigames, Luigi has a haunted puzzle escape room, Yoshi has a racing game on the back of different colored Yoshis, Waluigi has a Pinball game themed around Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart, etc. - There´s an entire Story Mode where you help Kamek prepare for the party by freely moving around the boards and helping people with fetch quests and playing minigames - The main Mario Party mode has a "Pro Rules" mode mentioned in the Switch´s News App where a lot of the rules are tweaked to "emphasize strategy over some of the luck-based surprises that Mario Party games have been known for in the past". Some of the changes mentioned are that the Bonus Stars will be announced before the game begins and every player gets to choose an item to start the match with

Largely you’re right, but for whatever reason there is an exception to this rule every once in a great while. Super Mario Strikers is another example. And I guess in this case they wanted something to make it feel like a reboot after Mario Party 1-10

I can't get past that there is no co-op/teams in the standard party mode like there was during the whole gamecube era. My wife and I dont want to verse, we want to be on a team. Back in the day when it would just be myself and one friend, we wouldnt want to only play free for all with cpu's...we'd play TEAMS, either co-op verses hard cpu's or verse each other with a cpu on each team. Nope...havent been options for like the last 5 Mario Parties. That's just outrageous to me. I know there are some co-op options in this one... but we don't want to play side modes. We want to play Mario Party

I hope this is fully realized and good. There have been a real number of stinkers in the franchise in terms of modes and entire entries where they stray too far from the path and it sucks. But this looks like getting to actually spend time in the sort of Mario Party world as it were that all of the old cutscenes and menu screens and even mini game/map backgrounds sort of allude to. I have very high hopes for this even though the last Super Mario Party was pretty lame. Also really hope they don't make it permanently stuck on baby mode with the whole 10 coin star nonsense. A star should cost 20 unless you have a bonus that lowers it.

The Jamboree Buddy reminds me of that one mode in Mario Party 3 where you get fighting partners and you have to fight the other players to win, that was my favorite mode in the game

Chances are, this'll just get a "deluxe" version for switch 2. The game was likely being made with the knowledge that the switch 2 is imminent and so it was probably built around that and just so happens to be dropping on og swotch as well. Think breath of the wild on wii u.

I don't wanna come off spoiled, but I kinda wish there was just one other mode for those online crowd co-op minigames other than just Bowser's Kaboom Squad. Just seems like a bit of a waste. Mario Party 7 had a mode called Ice Battle which was bacically a minigame battle mode for 8-player minigames. It was very simple mode, but it was another way to play 8-player at the very least.
