One tip: Put a paint tray into plastic bag and then pour paint on it, that way you never need to clean a paint tray. When finished, just turn the bag the other way around, used paint will be in a bag and your paint tray is clean.

Hi! Do I need to use primer on walls that are already painted, or only on new drywall? And do I need primer on my ceilings (they're already white, but more glossy than the new paint will be, and slightly different shade of white, the one room w/ a new ceiling is primed already), or can I just paint them straightaway? And for the edges between walls and ceilings (we're doing the ceilings first), am I better off using a brush carefully, or tape once the ceiling is dry? I don't know exactly what I'm doing, but I can't afford to have this done, and my house was trashed by a hurricane, we're having to fix the whole inside already, it's a mess lol. So, I need some tips. Thanks!!
@thinkreno Жыл бұрын
As long as the old paint is dry and clean, you can just paint read over it without primer. And if I am painting, both the ceiling and the walls, I always paint the ceiling first. When doing the edges on the ceiling, it’s OK to get it on the walls, and then when you paint the walls, just use a brush carefully for the edges. It’s hard to tape off the ceiling since most of the time there’s some texture to it.

Thanks for sharing. Question. If walls are already painted. Do you need to cover walls and windows with plastic to avoid splatter on them? Please advise.
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
I usually just cover the floors and furniture when painting ceilings. If you go slow at the edges near walls and windows there isn’t usually any “splatter”

Are the walls already primed? My sister painted the ceiling with white and was not careful with the roller so i have white paint around the top of the walls. Should i re-prime that area of my walls? The color will be a medium peach. Just afraid the white is too white compared to the primer and it will show
@Alexander-qy7yz Жыл бұрын
Hi, Can I use a watered down acrylic ceiling paint, like at around 30% added water, as covering layers underneath before putting a final non-diluted layer as the top coat? Will the thinner coats of paint underneath compromise the longevity of the paint job even though the top coat is non-diluted? Let’s say I put the watery paint on a wall to cover it twice and then put a final top coat of non-diluted wall paint. Is that ok?

Great video! What kind of primer and ceiling paint did you use? Would be useful to know that information.
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
Any primer will do but for the ceiling paint it’s worth paying extra for “ultra hide” paint. It’ll hide all the streaking that most ceiling paints leave
@marierose67926 ай бұрын
Would a professional painter not cut the ceiling first? Is there a difference as to when you do it?
@thinkreno6 ай бұрын
Up to the individual painter, but if you roll first, you can see how close you can get to the wall and then have less to cut in. It’s how the professional painters I know do it! Saves time.

Is it possible to blend old and new paint? It seems it’s still visible after I did some color matching
@thinkreno Жыл бұрын
Sure, as long as it’s the same base and the same sheen. You don’t want to mix eggshell paint with gloss paint, for example.
@emadalkadri28562 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thank you for the information, We are doing a project . And the painter sprayed the ceiling( huge flat ceiling with 4 windows/ 48’x22’). After that the electrician did some patches. My question is, can we roll the patches or we have to spray it? Thanks
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
It will never look exactly like a sprayed job, but you can roll it. Best to use a sponge type roller to get the smoothest finish you can. Do several thin coats
@siagizmobass3862 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard on other channels to paint sideways or perpendicular to the direction that the sun shines through the window to avoid being able to see any lines left in the direction that the sun shines in. As if you’d be able to see the stripes if looking at the window and they’d be coming towards you easier to see than if they are moving horizontally from your view towards the window that has light…??? I am really confused because I’ve watched about 12 videos and it seems to be an even split 50/50 on which way is best to paint when you have a window that sun shines in through… Please clarify if possible thank you I appreciate the great content!
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
For my last coat I always go in a pattern where I roll away from the window light source, then back toward the window. Going the other way I find you can see the ridges left in the paint from the roller when the light shines across the room
@Blomma...0_0 Жыл бұрын
what do we do when the room is in the corner of the room and has windows in two sides, like in a L shape room?
@thinkreno Жыл бұрын
I’d go with the windows that get more of the direct sunlight coming in. My final coat would roll toward them
