Thank you for keeping this real. There are so many videos by specialists/ make up artists who sound patronising with expensive products which are difficult to purchase and maintain. I am sure we are all looking for good value for money and building the trust with a person makes it so much easier in buying products they recommend. I enjoy your honesty and balanced view. Can I ask for a review of No 7 products as a suggestion as I have been using this brand for over 30 years and would love to know how it compares with similar priced products. Thank you.

I'm super proud of my affordable skincare routine. Took me a while to find the right products for my skin that are also affordable, but I did it! I use brands such as The Ordinary, Inkey List, Eucerin, Cerave, and my latest find is the SUPER affordable SPF from Altruist. 200ml for not even 6€. I mean come on! And thanks for that retinal recommendation! I can buy it here in Croatia, but I never noticed it before. The price is really affordable. I'll def give it a try.

I really love this type of video. This was so spot on for me! I have been trying to find my way through the skincare maze and find myself overwhelmed. I’m in my mid 40s and really seeing changes in my skin and it’s so hard to know what will work and what’s just marketing rubbish without draining my pocketbook! Thank you for being our guinea pig!

I feel exactly the same as you 45 and have no clue where I should start or even what I need to use. It gets complicated trying to figure out what ingredients do what job and also if the same ingredients can be used in multiple products. Such a minefield getting in the right path, but I'm currently failing miserably.

Of course we do. I've tried many high-end products. Switched to much more affordable ones that performed immensely better than many way too pricey. As for Geek&Gorgeous both A game 0.5 and C Glow, 15 % vitamin C. Amazing brand. Of course, took aproximately six months of using La Roche Posay's 0.3 Rendermic (retinol). All the steps and patience recommended by my longtime dermatologist.

I LOVE Pretty Much the Entire Neutrogena Hydro Boost Line! Even the 50 SPF is so Gentle, I can use it on my face (& Not Break out!!)

I think with the cost of living crisis hitting people more affordable alternatives for skincare and makeup would be very welcome. I’ve been using A-Game from Geek and Gorgeous for about 6 months, it’s excellent. I’ve found the cleansers from the Superdrug Me+ range to be very good. Having tried many different cleansing balms, hot cloth cleansers and oil cleansers as a first cleanse my favourite and the best for removing makeup and SPF is definitely the No7 balm cleanser in the pot and very affordable.

Great episode. Please continue. My ride or dies: Acure Organic Argan Oil to protect the sensitivie spots on my neck and my eyelids before I apply tretnoin at night and before an AHA or Vit C in the a.m and Laroche-Posay Toleriane Ultra (called Dermallergo in Europe with a few more ingredients). That Byorma moisturizer looks terrific.

Ride or die from the drug store is Cereva healing ointment. I use it around my eyes and mouth (yes far away from.eyes their self) when using my tretinoin. I use a moisturizer and then the ointment and it helps keep my mouth area from getting dry and cracked and helps keep my eyes brows from the flaking skin.

I’ve become a bit of a skincare guru over the past 7 years and I’m very particular about what I spend my money on- I’m looking for active ingredients with science backed true research and you’re totally right……this doesn’t always mean a hefty price tag. I find that many of the super expensive creams are nothing more than glorified moisturizers. If I’m spending big bucks I want to see vitamin C, or vitamin A or ceramides, or glycerins or Niacinamide or hyluronic acids etc. Or I’m looking for glycolic or lactic acids or other exfoliating acids. There are so many wonderful serums on the market that are jam packed with super hero ingredients. I could go on and on - I’m obsessed lol 🙈. And for sure it’s a marathon journey. My skin looks better now at 57 thank it did at 50! When I’m out in public with my grandkids (9&15) I’m very often mistaken for their mom. Key is consistency and checking your ingredient deck 😊 There are SO many wonderful affordable options out there! Thank you so much for such a great video with some fabulous suggestions/recommendations! I’m totally here for anything skincare related! Xo 🇨🇦

It's amazing that videos like this are available for ppl of all ages and skincare needs. I get confused with all the names and don't know what I should be combining into a skincare routine. I'm not currently using anything other than a moisturiser but at the age of 44 I think I need to find a good skincare regime. Could I possibly find out how you knew were to start with trying products out please ? I'm clueless and I don't know what is needed to help me have better skin. I wish there was a way to maybe get a consultation to find out what my problem areas are

When I was using The Ordinary niacinemide I was getting irritation and I didn’t like niacinemide at all. Then I found out that the higher strength niacinemide isn’t necessary and found The Glossier’s version which is the only company that made the lower strength. Now I love it and I’ve seen so much improvement in the brightness of my skin.

More expensive products certainly have their place. Usually, I find it’s the superior formulations (think Dr. Sam’s Brightly) that will convince me to purchase if I know the ingredients work for me. More affordable skincare (especially cleansers and moisturizers) allow me to experiment with more expensive serums.

Here in the U.S., we can order Geek & Gorgeous products directly from the company in Hungary. As far as starting out with retinoids at a weaker strength and building up, you can also start out with a stronger product and only use it once per week (buffered with a moisturizer underneath) slowly working up to nightly, as tolerated.

Glad you mentioned about the micellar water leaving a residue. When they very first came out, ppl were saying no need to rinse. I tried one & it definitely broke me out. And I'm not even oily! Lol. ATM, I'm using a cleansing balm, then another cleanser, but I really do like to follow with micellar water. But I definitely then rinse it right off. As you said too, it's excellent to remove any leftover eye makeup. I wonder sometimes if I'm overdoing the cleansing, possibly drying my face out, but tbh it feels better using it. I tend to be sensitive to some things so like to get things as clean as possible Funny too, on days I'm home I don't wear makeup. While I wash my face and/pm, when no makeup I usually just use the one cleanser. I've noticed the past few days I've been home I've actually broken out! Lol. So it appears I need all steps no matter what! 😮

My current favorite moisturizer (I have combo skin) is the LaRoche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair. Although I have an oily T-zone, I have no issues with it. I am on tretinoin. When I have slight dry patches, the Skinfix barrier+ is an overnight wonder-very rich but also doesn’t cause problems for my oily areas. As an aside, Versed has a body lotion with retinol that I adore.

Hey @Sandi Tinker!…😢 I’m so sad about the Simple micellar water, I also use & 💕 it! I couldn’t use the CeraVea. It burned my eyes & stung on my skin. Before using the Simple brand, I used the Bioderma (pink lid) micellar water, & it was great, but living “out in the country” I had to order it. You may wish to try the Bioderma since we can’t get the Simple brand anymore! Best wishes to you & yours!😊

Yes more of these please Gemma! By the way it sounds like your nose is stuffy. I do pray you're well! Allergies? I get a lost voice on & off w/a stuffed nose from all the spring blooms, but I love this season. I don't feel I need, in the warmer months, a heavy hydrating moisturizer. I've put in my cabinet the BP Triple Hylauronic Moisturizer for the spring/summer. I did get the Boyoma Gel-Cream as that's lighter weight & the Ordinary still w/Natural Moisturizing Fatures w/HA. I found that at Target in the states when I pulled your link up & ended up get resupply of other toiletries. Lol wow,, the Cerave Oil Cleanser sounds great along w/the Micellar Water (only on eyes since t-zone is oily). I'm going to see if these will be useful for a portion of my nightly cleanse since I'm using the SA Cerave Cleanser after. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% is great to put a small dab, for me, on blemishes when I'm hormonal. The Tretinoin & it's brilliant! Affordable is a good thing! I will spend some more money where I feel it's worth it such as NIOD FECC & the Saccharide Mist. Revitalash is pricey too, but I use that to keep my lashes full. Not super long lashes, but I've found w/my brows too that if I stop using these 2 items, both brows & lashes will get sparse again. Must be all of the meds I'm on! Thank you for this video! Be well, blessings & all of the Wolfpack too! xx 🥰💁♀️✌🙏👍🇬🇧🇺🇲👏👏🐺🐺
