Thank you for the video, and the time you put in it. Obviously, some people (quite oddly, to me) fail to recognize (1) that this video was put together for pleasure, as a hobby, and it is NOT a decree dictating what YOU MUST think; (2) that it requires a lot of effort; (3) that it reflects one person's personal opinion; (4) that this is a great way to introduce these artists to viewers who aren't well-acquainted with ballet yet, but are interested in it. Plus, I thought that ballet was supposed to be an elegant, graceful form of art, so what the hell is with all this fanaticism? By no means does a person have to share your views about matters of arts. Perhaps, next time, you might offer your OWN PERSONAL OPINION a little more humanely than this, guys. And, again, CAN'T YOU FREAKIN' READ? The list consists of ballet dancers WHO STILL PERFORM. PS: I just love Vyacheslav Lopatin, so it made me really happy to see that you share my opinion:)

As am I, but when I watch him dance I'm reminded every single time of a clockwork toy. His technique is brilliant, his line lovely, his leaps and turns nigh-on flawless. But he has no passion! I once saw a video of Bolle dancing Manon with Sylvie Guillem. Since then, I'm afraid the expression and the passion simply *must* be present or I'm not interested. Bolle is my current favourite and so far no one comes close to engaging me in the ballet as he does. :)

When I was 6, my mom took her Girl Scout troop to see the Royal Danish ballet with Eric Bruhn. They did Copelia. I still remember it nearly 70 years later. I was hooked. Sal Hurok used to bring the Bolshoi or the Kirov to Detroit every winter and the Royal Ballet every summer. I always got tickets for Christmas and my birthday. We saw Baryshnikov and Makarova before they left the Kirov. We saw Nureyev and Fonteyn. Then Hurok died and they didn’t come anymore. When I was 18 I moved to New York and waited in line for standing room. Then I moved to Dublin for school and would go to London during ballet season.now I live in a small town where the ballet never comes. You Tube just isn’t the same but it beats nothing.

Not a dancer, but I made the mistake of watching Barishnikov's solos from The Turning Point before watching this video, and so was waiting to see dancing of that calibre. The only guy here who I though approached that was Vasiliev. I feel that Roberto bolle could have come in slightly higher as he has great athletic form in ballet and. is a very expressionate performer also what about Irek mukhamedov a truly great dancer with amazing acting abilities /miming skills. Ever seen his role as Prince Rudolf in the 1994. production of Kenneth Macmillan's original masterpiece Mayerling however all of he performers/dancers were exceptional in that especially Viviana Durante as Mary Vetsera.

Suzanne Moogan, I have the DVD of this perf. Talk about a "state occasion" cast! I don't like the ballet all that much, but the performances were brilliant. Always like Muhammedov---brilliant dancer, and when you saw him interviewed, he seemed unaffected by his deserved fame in the ballet world. I wish I had a copy of his Spartacus!

Hey, BalletGirl, I loved this collection. I think maybe you should think about a #16: António Casalinho. He's Portugese and set to conquer the world. There's a video of his academy's "Giselle" on YouTupe. He made me cry in Act 2. The guy is 17 and he made me cry because he *was* Albrecht. So many male dancers stun with their superb technique, so much so that one can forget that they are - usually - supposed to be a character. And the character is often missing. (Well, why complain when they knock you out with unbelievable technical excellence?) But this young man, at 17 -- and also dancing beautifully -- actually made me cry because he WAS who he was supposed to be. Have we found the Callas of male dancers? I hope I live long enough to find out.
